Hey all,
I am maxed on all but surveying.
I am wondering what the best way to get surveying XP is (and don't say by surveying!
).
Is there a well known macro that people use to get this out of the way?

1. Find a good spot of something at 90% or more
2. pull out a pet and have them "stay" at that spot
3. Target your pet and /follow him (so you don't go trapsing through the wilderness)
4. Start your AFK sampling macro
Sampling macro goes something like this (adjust pauses for your recovery time)
/stand
/pause 3
/sample
/pause 6;
/sit
/pause 24
/ui action toolbarSlotXX (XX = 00 for F1, 01 for F2, etc)

Sorry for sounding stupid, but I am new to Artisan - what is the relevance of making your pet stay at the spot?

No problem and don't apologise for asking quesitons lol 
To answer your second question, the point of having a pet "stay" at a location and having you autofollow it is so that you don't go wandering all over the planet while afk sampling. You will find that you move a little every time you stand up and then sit down again. This simply limits how far you will move (not far) and will keep you on your sweet spot for surveying

I have been having a problem with this when trying to run the macro.
Went to run it while going to bed, and woke up to see that the whole thing had ground to a halt because a "found a concentration" window had come up, waiting for me to input an answer. Most disheartening.
Does anyone know how to get around this?

The "rich sample" and "new concentration" pop-ups were put in to limit AFK-surveying. As far as I know there's no easy way around them - you just need to click accordingly every so often.Basically, the macro helps but a minimal level of involvement is still needed.Actuallym,I wonderif a short sampling period is less likely to be "caught" on a pop-up than a longer one.
Now, I just wish there was something that could be done with Survey XP after reaching Surveying IV. I maxed out within a week of starting ...
