Thread: When was the last time you mined an HIGH SR Copper or alum...

yeah, resource gates seem to be one of the "secret" tricks a lot of people don't know about. Non ferrous have capped shock, unfortunately.
Once you know about resource gates you can start narrowing your search for high quality materials. Because individual resource types also have specific gates. Phrik Alum seems to be the best Shock aluminum, it seems to spawn shock resistance from 750-900 every time. In comparison Chromium aluminum spawns shock at around 500-600.
So when you're looking for high Shock non ferrous you know to look for Phrik Aluminums. And the highest copper I've seen had almost 800 shock, so not as good as Phrik Aluminums possible shock.
As an armorsmith what I do is watch spawns and just ignore them if they arn't Phrik Aluminum say. If Phrik spawns I check it for high OQ. The aluminum I currently have has around 950 OQ 850 shock, so all I watch for is phriks that spawn which I then check quickly against my current stock.
Most resource class's have a "best" type for various stats. As you gain experience as a crafter you'll start to get a feel for which types they are. (duralloy steel seems to be among the best Ferrous metals for shock, but lots of steels have really high shock so that's not such a big deal)

I'd love to be able to claim my keen eye and superior intellect twigged me to the resource gates, but alas I'd be fibbin
.
I found out about the resource gates a long time ago from a thread in the Armorsmith Forum. I think the AS stickied FAQ might have a section about resource gates for anyone who's interested in reading it.
