Would you say no to someone who said "Here, here's [500-700] credits"? I wouldn't.

Don't ignore those POI's! Sure, you can say, "Cool, a Gungan Camp." and run on by, but stop and yap at someone a bit. There will usually be one NPC there who you can talk to. Just because it's yellow doesn't mean you can't converse. And a lot of times, since the POI's are dynamic, they'll have a crafting mission for you. The best part? The FINAL DESTINATION is the nearest city...usually your home base of operations. You're heading back there eventually anyhow, right? Why not take on this mission and get your free creds, and a little free crafting experience, with NO resource cost to you, either?

They're more than just pretty little displays to keep us from getting bored with the wide, windswept plains of Naboo/Corellia/Home Planet Of Your Choice. Take advantage of them!

While I totally agree about stopping at PoI's and picking up a crafting/surveying mission, the crafting mission destinations are not always the nearest town. Of the last 4 I've picked up, 3 took me to towns I needed to catch the shuttle to. However, the reward for each was over 1500 creds so imho they are still well worth it. Just grab a delivery mission to your destination after you make the part, then you normally can get the ticket paid for and maybe a little extra off the delivery mission. Then of course grab 2 more deliveries for the trip back.
