Thread: Experimenting, Making cash, and getting xp
Well I am actually on naritus but there is enough cash to go around. I figured out the experimentation and the metals I am using get me around 16% experimentation for muzzles and barrels. I have put two barrels up that seemed decent enough to net me 50 but no bids yet. I will have to be patient,I take it, but atleast I figured taht one out.
I am advanced now, but there is no way I am going to even try bone armor until I have more than 190 creds to throw around for bone and hide. I think I will continue on muzzles for a while and see where it takes me.
Start at 26% and experiment up to 91%...gives you a +30.485/+15.015 power up. ![]()

If you need money as an intermediate crafter, build up your survey skill, then sell good quallity resources on the bazaar for 4 credits per unit. with a Survey IV you should be able to make several thousand credits per hour if you're in a busy city because people WILL buy at 3-4 creds per unit. 1000 units of good metal and you've just made 4k credits, which is pretty easy to do in 30-40 minutes at Survey IV if you find a nice vein.
You may not get your profit right away, but I garauntee that you will have sold most of your resources by the next day when you log on if you price them reasonably (at least they always do for me). You could ask more, but they won't sell quickly and you'll still be broke tomorrow, waiting. No, this doesn't get you general crafting XP, but you asked about money for low-level artisans - that's how to get it because selling low-level items is very unreliable, only the newbies buy them. I made so much money as a low-level artisan that I took up travelling just to SEE the different planets, and I rarely sold any of my items until I started making decent bone armor. Meantime I just craft the odd special request and grind out some powerupsevery so often to raise my XP. If you don't rush it, you'll stay pretty wealthy.
I have a few questions.
1 - HOW DO YOU EXPERIMENT?! I keep reading about it but the closest I have seen is saying 6% when making a knife. I dont get this at all...
2 - Is there ANY way to make cash as an intermediate engineer? Please explain
3 - What is the fastest way to get gxp as a crafter? I am really wanting to get into armor/architect/droid craft and I am very impatient lol.
To experiment you need a specialized crafting tool and be at a public or private crafting station.
Example: If you're making armour you'd want to use your Clothing and Armour Crafting tool in front of a Clothing and Armour Crafting Station.
1) Get a quality tool. Make it yourself, even. It has to be the specialized type of tool you want to craft an item with. IE Weapon, Droid, and GI tool for those three, etc. Then go to the crafting station and open the tool. After the assemble screen, you will get a screen with 3 options "Create Prototype Item", "Create Manufacturing Schematic", "Experiment". MAKE SURE YOU CLICK EXPERIMENT, AS IF YOU CLICK ANY OTHER YOU CANNOT GO BACK.
The experiment screen is pretty self explanatory. You can tell what effect your experiments will have by looking at the draft schematic. For example, a CDEF's Experimental Damage determines it's minimum damage, it's maximum damage, it's attack speed, and it's wound chance. Put points in the area you want to experiment in. My suggestion is stick with Damage on weapons and effectiveness on power ups. People don't care about the others. Put any extra points into range for weapons, as you can say it's more accurate if you do that. But nobody will buy a 17-45 CDEF, even if it's ideal range bonus is 61,
2) Quality, quality, quality! Use only top quality materials and experiment to the max! Don't make things out of top quality materials if you just want to grind. Save them! Once a resource shift wipes out the minerals most used in building buildings, you can charge by selling your extras. I just turned 20k today, including resource sales. You can find a +20-+25 power up for 100-150. I charge 300 for my +30's, and they move. I mean MOVE. I usually sell all the ones I just put on between the time it takes me to go to my harvesters and get resources to make more. Make better than everyone else out there, and you will make money. A 21-55 CDEF will net you maybe a hundred or two on the Bazaar. A 40-62 will net you 450, easy. Like hotcakes.
3) Power ups, again. Low material cost, and well made ones will net you a ton.
Now, if you use these little tips on Naritus to try and horn in on me, I'll hire big, smelly Wookies to pop your head off. ![]()
