Thread: And....we rollover again :)

I'm beginning to think that the nature of resource 'rollovers' is less complex than we thought. Everyone seems to think that "you mine it too long, and it goes away". I have a new hypothesis: "At 2:00am PST each of the servers can randomly chose to randomize the resource tree on random planets, based on some unknown algorithms". For example, tonight on Chilastra/Talus at 2:00am (just like last night at 2:00am), the chemical and mineral trees changed drastically ...but, there was no rhyme or reason to it ...it had just changed last night and the most popular things were not the things gone missing tonight.

The big question is if this "2:00am rollover" is decided upon by a human, or if it is random chance (ie, every night there is a 2% chance of a rollover taking place on a given server, or something to that effect).

However, after observing two rollovers, I really have to say that I don't think that the resource changes are structured in any way based upon what is currently being harvested...it looks to be random....

In a way the randomness is fair enough. That way the first batch of players won't be able to monopolize all the good ore. Annoying tho it may be to have to move your harvesters, I'm sure that the people that are just joining the game will appreciate the fact that they, too, can find a good spot for a harvester.

I think it's ridiculous that there was a 2nd rollover in as many days. I can only hope that this is due to some sort of server reset that was necessary both nights. The past couple of days I've spent more time searching for resource locationsthan doing anything else. I hope SOE gets this worked out soon.

I would have to agree with you that to have 2 rollovers so close together is a tad extreme. As I've stated in a previous post, having resources just up and vanish is not good a good idea. The resources should deplete over time (the amount of time can vary) until gone. While some are depleting others can increase. This would givea much more realistic affect and is a lot less aggravating.

So, Scylla wasn't the only server to do this? I haven't looked too much into Chemicals, but Minerals on Scylla's Tatooine have gone totally nuts.

Scylla's Tatooine went from 5 types of Steel on Friday to 2 types on Saturday to 1 type on Sunday.

75% deposit of Cefooate Steel... nope, no Cefooate Steel on this planet at all now. It got replaced by Aluminum and Copper yesterday... and the Aluminum was gone again this morning.

Please, LucasArts, if you're reading this, keep the resources the same for more than one day at a time. It annoys us to no end when you keep moving them on us.

Incidently, Steel and Aluminum are both required to build Structures. Coincidence?
