I'm trying to keep a database of minerals and their attributes, etc. In order to do this properly I would like to know the following:

1- Will resource "XYZ" always have the same attributes. Even from different concentrations / locations / planets / servers / dates ?

2- Will resource "XYZ" always be available somewhere or do they get "phased out" and not used again? ( I know that some type of a resource TYPE will always be avaialble somewhere in the galaxy, but what about a specific resource of that type)

3- Do new resource names get created, or are the items currently available going to be the same forever.

Thanks,

XYZ will always be the same whenever it appears.

No, XYZ will not always be availiable and while it may return, it also may have been a one off , you never know. Many of the staple ones come and go though. Some of the rarer ones will be quite rare.

I am not sure if there is a finite number of names or not. I have a long list of them and still see new ones regularly.

1. Two samples of the same resource will always have the same stats, regardless of when and where they were sampled, as long as they have the same name. For example, on Corellia in Bria, we had a type of Mythra Copper called "Ilak" that also appeared on Naboo. Both had identical stats.

2. When a particular resource disappears, it is gone for good. That resource, with that name, and those stats, will never reappear. Additionally, no guarantee is made that a particular kind of resource, like say, Plumbic Iron, will always be available. This is not an accident. This is just the devs adding a little randomness to the creation process.

3. To the best of my observation, resource names are generated randomly by haphazardly combining word fragments.

I'm not so sure that it will "never" reappear. I guess we'll have to wait for the next resource shift to find out.

...knowing my luck, it will dry up the last remaining Steel type on Tatooine/Scylla.
