Can Anyone survey and use surveying machines? or only certain professions

Only artisan gives you the abilty to use surveying machines. Although other classes, such as scout and medic, do have the abilty to craft things. And the statement what doesn't kill you makes you stronger is very wrong indeed, what if something attacks you and you become catatonic, or you get your head ripped off and you are cryogenicly frozen foryears untillthey unfreeze you and put your head backon and then you breath in toxicgas and die?

I'm not sure about the breathing the toxic gas part. It seems far more likely that they would put your head onto a robot body, which would definitely be much stronger. As for the catatonic part, you could possibly become mentally stronger in that state, kind of like Rain Man being able to count the matches.
