I am a very adv. fighter class who is dabbling in artisan. And, through my casual use of artisan, I got up to Eng IV almost by accident. Now I figure, why not dabble a little more, but I am totally clueless in this area.

1. Explain thisto me like you would a to a 6 yr. old: How the heck do you use the seemingly useless public crafting stations? I've tried... the only option is examine... and they all look the same to me. Someone suggested that, by standing within a certain proximity to one, I would have more schematics available to me in my crafting tools (current tools are Generic and Armor/Clothing), but everything appears to be the same. What am I doing wrong?

2. I can't survey to save my life. I try to... I move to a certain location that the element I surveyed for says is in highest abundance and I can't do anything. I try to sample and it says "You're a stupid wookie... learn to speak common. You're fat!" or something mean that equates to you can't and you should have known you couldn't.

3. Someone needs to publish "Crafting for Dummies" somewhere that I can print it from. The guide section is no help. Or I have very little to no patience when looking for such things.

I'm very noob to the Artisan trade and the most rudimentary help would be appreciated.

If you have a crafting tool other than the generic one and you target the appropriate station, it will allow you to experiment with your products. You have to actually target the station, though. Not just be standing near it.

A specific example might help me out here... I'm not sure what the game is actually telling you.

Thanks for the reply... I wish I could remember the specific message it gave me when I attempted to sample an element (wind, I think I tried) but said something along the lines of "You're survey tool does not have a container" or something that meant I couldn't put it anywhere or that I needed some kind of harvester. I don't get it. I really don't.

You can't sample wind or solar. Try using a Flora or mineral survey tool That should work for you.
