Thread: Economics on SWG

This is my observation as a Master Artisan.

cpd=credits per day

Wind Generator= upkeep costs 2000cpd, and will power at least twoextractors for 24hours.

Extractor = upkeep costs 1000cpd, and will mine on average of 1000 resources per day depending on the consentration.

With the upkeep on one WG (Wind Generator) one CE (Chemical Extractor) and one ME (Mineral Extractor) I was able to make 2000 resourcesin oneday andsell them all on the Bazaar at 4cr per resource for a total of 8000cpd and pay my upkeep of 4000cpd WG+CE+ME 2000+1000+1000=4000cr and make a 4000cpd profit.

So I figure that the base lowest cost per resource for any item that I make would be 2cr per resource needed to make just to cover the upkeep costs on my equipment, should be 4cr per resource just to cover the demand for those resources and the price that I was able to sell them for on the Bazaar. But some other factors come up that I can't quite understand how to calculate for costs.

CDEF pistol takes 15 minerals and 6 chemicals for a total of 21 resources to make.

2cr per/resource the price goes to 42cr

4cr per/resource the price goes to 84cr

at Novice Artisan without experimentation and without using good resources you can make a CDEF pistol 15-30dam 3.5AS and other stats that are low base stats. You couldn't sell this pistol on the Bazaar for 84cr if you tried.

A friend of mine bought a D18 pistolfor 1000cr 17-50dam 3.4AS which is the worst one that I've ever seen. But theguy who bought it said that hereally wantedone even after I told him that I could make him a better CDEF pistol for much cheaper. Still it didn't matter to him, he was looking for a D18.

NOTE: I know that all the other stats on weapons also matter but damage and attack speed are the most important to me for survival at this point in the game.

So as a Master Artisan and using 900+ conductivity and 800+ OverallQuality Copper (Adolap on Kettemore) and some other easy to find 900+ Chemical I was able to get 26% experimental damage off the start on the CDEF pistol and92% afterexperimenting with ten points as Master with a total on the pistol at 30-62dam and 3.4AS

This is way better than the stupid D18 that my friend bought for 1000cr but I can't even sell them for 100cr on the Bazaar.

I know the game is still very new but people are paying for the highest weapon that they are certified and not looking at the craftmenship of the item. I don't even know any crafters who care about the resources that they are using and most of them don't even know that the resource type willaffects the item stats.

I guess I need some help at figuring out the price to sell these master crafted CDEF's or at least the price that they should be sold for to make a decent profit. Until people start paying for quality and not for the weapon name youre not going to have a stable economy on SWG.

I am relatively new to the game so this might seem noobish, but..

As a pistol specialist, I browse the bazaar looking for weapons that have the damage incorporated into the name. Of course I compare shop to look for the best deal. The ones that get my attention first are the ones that give a hint to the quality up front. I dont even sift though the 30 CDEF pistols that don't show any aspects in the name.

I often sell CDEF for 1k credits. I make sure the damage is in the name. Such as CDEF 30-62 Dmg...

Is a CDEF pistol different to craft than a rifle? I only ask because I crafted a rifle with the following stats:

Dmg: 28-57
Speed: 3.7
Range: 0/40/-80
Special: 8/19/8

I was just curious as to how that compared to other CDEF weapons, rifles in particular. And yes, I hate to let my little secret out of the bag, but as of right now Adolap on Kettermoor is a CDEF weapon's best friend...

I am on Vaclyn Tatooine and I can sell 26-54 3.7 CDEF riffles for ~300 credits. They seem to go pretty fast and I do not mind because making a lot of them isn't bad at all.If I have time, I will make 20 or so and do delivery missions around the planet selling 5 or so at each city bazzar, they seem to sell better if you do not flood a local market with your own products (percieved limited supply, very important in a game like this). If people use them you still make a little money and some uxp to boot. I probably could sell for higher but at this time I kinda look at it like promotional pricing for when i reach a more advanced skill and I hope to gain reconition of selling items of quality and value...

I would change the name to reflect the stats I use -DS26-54 3.7 after the original name of the weapon. This gives an indicater for who built it and the stats to perk interest...

I said this before, and I'll say it again, because it never fails to work for me:

You know, I never have a problem selling my CDEF rifles and pistols, even though there are tons of them. What is it that makes mine sell for between 150 and 300 credits and other folks just sit there at 50? Presentation and quality.

When I craft a weapon that I intend to sell, I craft it using the best materials I can get, and I make sure it is highly experimented on AND that itwas no less than a great success. Also, each of my weapons gets a powerup made the exact same way. That's the quality part, and my weapons stats show it. Newbies have cash, and they need good gear just as much as anyone.

The second part is presentation. When I create each weapon, I look at the stats before I name it. If it falls within certain parameters for damage, or speed, or HAM cost, it gets a brand name, so that everyone knows that if they are getting a "Delrulian ""High Power"" CDEF Pistol" they are getting a CDEF pistol that does at least 50 max damage. Then, and this is the really really important part, I put in a description explaining EXACTLY what powerup is on the weapon, what it is doing, what I used to create the weapon, and why I think you should by this particular weapon. Yes, it takes me an hour or so to put up 10 weapons this way, but of those 10, at least 8 will sell, every single time. That is steady income, and it's building me a reputation as a crafter that takes time and puts effort into my work.

Trust me, if you have something of quality to sell, like a well crafted breastplate that you know is good, put a description up, and make sure you name it with some sort of info that doesn't mislead folks, but lets them know that this item is superior to all the others in that category.

Your problem is not in the crafting but in the marketing aspect. In my market a blaster like that would go for 600-700 credits. It won't fly off the shelves but it would sell when someone needed it.
