The following is part of the 9/4 update notes:

  • Allow for power and maintenance to carryover if structure is re-deeded. Power and maintenance values will remain in the harvester upon re-placement.

Is this working? I experienced a strange bug last night. I had a wind generator west of Mos Eisely. It was sitting right among a number of other gens. After the resource shift, I went and checked it. Sure enough, it was not operating. Still had over 1K in the maintenance pool.

I tried turning it back on, and got the standard "Resource depleted" message. So I surveyed, and found that the shift had still left it sitting on 38% wind energy. All of the adjacent gens were running, so I decided to just change the resource setting and start it back up. When I opened the "Change Resources" window, it showed nothing at all in the window (even though all the generators around it were running and producing energy units).

What I had to do was fund up the maintenance pool to 3K and reclaim the deed. I emptied the hopper first, and successfully reclaimed the deed. Since I had to do that anyway, I surveyed my way over to a 48% deposit and reset it. It worked normally, and is currently producing.

However, when I reset it, my 3000 credits were gone...POOF! Can anyone confirm that the above quoted change allowing the reclamation of maintenance and power pools is working correctly?

if you had 3k flat in the generator, it was used to pay the re-deeding. That was not removed, but if you had dropped 5k in the generator, 3k would be used to re-deed and 2k would be left in the maintenace pool.

Along these lines, I have a side question. I know re-deeding personal harvesters cost 3000 credits. What about mediums and heavies? Does anyone know if the cost is the same, regardless of size?

If you have the answers, I'd appreciate it.

What do you mean it costs 3000 to redeed a personal harvester? Unless costs are different on each server, the redeed costs are as follows:

    Personal: 1500

    Medium: 3000

    Heavy: 4500

I play on Kettemoor, and mining resources is how my character generates his income, so I'm fairly well versed in these costs. The carry over has been working for me fine, except that it does eat the redeed costs, but anything over the amount is still there when you place it. All the power stays on board too, which is really nice IMHO.

Well, that explains it. Thanks for the answers

Now I know why everyone just destroys their existing extractors rather than reclaiming them. Since I've read these replies, I've started doing the same thing.

I think you just answered the question I was going to ask. If it costs 1500 to redeed a personal harvestor and less than 500 to craft a new one, why would I ever redeed? Even if a resource shift happens right after I deposit power, it still seems cheaper to switch to anything else in the area and let it die a natural death.

I have been keeping 6 days of power/money in my harvestors, but after I learned about the 1500 cred redeed fee and did some calculations, I am letting them run down and will only top them up to about 26 hours.

That should be ~1600 credits for a wind generator and ~800 for the other personal harvestors plus 700 power. In both cases, unless the shift happens as I am topping off, it is cheaper to destroy.

Do the higher level harvestors have a similar relationship between the redeed costs and the daily usage costs?

IMO, destory the wind generator and make another one or buy one off bazaar would be cheaper than pump in the 3k to redeed it.

    Maintenace costs for harvesters:

Personal 720 credits, 600 power per day

Medium 1440 credits, 1200 power per day

Heavy 2160 credits, 1800 power per day

So as you can see, the redeed rate is a little over double the daily maintenace rate for personals and mediums. Heavy harvesters are a little less, but that's because their output isn't quite double that of a medium.

Disclaimer: This info may be a little off, as I don't know what tweaks have gone on recently, and haven't tested the rates for some time. It seems to be tracking close enough though, but if they're wrong, post it here please and I'll verify and change my own notes.
