Thread: Is it possible to grind up Artisian as a player on a new server?

Reason I ask is because I want to try Droid Engineering, so I need 4000 Artisian. I have a Generic Crafting Tool and decided to do Wind Surveyors becuase they only use Metal. However, I am new to the server and have 15K in cash total.

Where do I get the metal for the schematics? I can't seem to find any on the bazaar. If I do find some how expensive can it be? I know it depends on server. Is Artisian something I should hold off on until I can get a good cash amount?

It can be tough to do Artisan with no starting cash. You can sell generic stuff that new people might want (on the bazaar), but you won't be generating cash very quickly.

I've found that mining minerals (like steel), and selling them on the bazaar is a good way to make cash. But in order to do that, you can either sample for them a lot (a good way to get sampling xp anyway), or buy a harvester. Even with little starting cash, you'll probably be able to buy a personal mineral harvester. You may also want a personal wind harvester, to generate energy to power your other harvesters. These should both be pretty inexpensive. Then you survey until you find a good steel resource (or wind resource), and place your harvester there. The harvester will require a little money to keep it going, and the mineral harvester will require some energy too (like the wind energy from your other harvester).

As for finding stuff on the bazaar, you just have to make sure you're looking in the right spot. Look under deeds to find the harvester deeds. And you'll probably want to click on the 'entire galaxy' button to see if there are any available in other cities. You'll have to travel to those cities to pick them up though. And if a lot of items show up, then make sure to hit the 'next items' button on the lower right. This will show you the next page of items (many people don't know this exists).

Also, you can see what all of the shopkeepers are selling in their shops. To do this, go to the bazaar and hit the 'vendor locations' tab at the top. Then do the same thing as you would do for looking through the bazaar. Since all vendors are outside the city, you'll need to click the planet or entire galaxy buttons again in order to see anything. If you do this, you'll see tons of steel and harvesters for sale. I'd recommend harvesting resources yourself and selling them on the bazaar. Once you have enough money, then just harvest resources for yourself, and craft up to the level of artisan you want to be.

makea mineral survey tool, or use the one you get as a new char.. find a high concentration of metal you needand /sample. You can craft while you sample.. which increases two things at once.. your engineering, and your surveying, which youwill want as you get higher in skill. Increased range on survey is a godsend when you are tracking down resources. And or, for those who aren't opposed to afk macro'ing.. you can macro sampling over night or during the day when you are at work/school and have some already to go with when you are able to play. Just make sure you do it someplace safe There really is no need for you to buy resources unless you have money to burn and or are impatient. You might even consider mastering artisan, and making vehicles, they take alot of resources..but you can get a good chunk of change from them selling on the bazaar.

Just an idea...

Great ideas here. Thanks everyone for your input.

You can make money and also get (some) crafting XP by taking crafting missions. You get a WP to an NPC who gives you a schematic and some parts; craft the item and deliver it to another NPC for the payoff. The greater the distance to the delivery point, the better the payoff. It's even better if you can then take crafting missions from the delivery area back to your starting area.

I just started up ashipwright fresh on Ahazi, several things not mentioned....

1. go to space, loot brings in cash fast, try to sell anything over level 2 or 3 to a shipwright, they need it,

very least it can go to the chassis dealer. Plus space is fun, and its skills don't compete with ground skills.

2. Find a guild/new city looking to grow. They will often help finance things like this, provide help/harvesters.

It is a multiplayer game after all.

3. Get your elite prof ASAP.... I find things like chaff packs sell handily, and they only take novice shipwright to

make. There is very little of that kind of consumable on the bazaar. DE would be good for chips for space, even

blank ones take very little resources and will sell for a 1k.

We all started fresh, just don't expect to be the lead crafter in your specialty within a month, unless the server is totally dead.

Something else you can do for very easy money is again, go to a artisain mission terminal, and get the survey missions. For your first mission, pick something such as metal and look for something within the 64-69% range (At least thats what I found to be easy:smileywink And when you find the resource your looking for, in this case, metal, from there on just keep getting the same type of mission over and over. You can grab two missions at a time, so grab two missions that call for a metal within the same % range and you can just keep going bcak to the same spot over and over untill you get pretty tired of it. Worked for me
