The harvesters in the Architect line are simply more powerful (gather resources faster, etc) than your basic "Personal Harvester." YES you can sell personal harvesters, YES you can let other people access them (pickup resources, deposit power, etc).

The larger harvesters require more power and are more costly to maintain. The next harvester you can make - upgraded from the personal level - has a harvest limit of 4kg per hour - twice that of a personal harvester. If my memory serves me, it requires twice as much power, and a third more maintenance costs.
However, you can have them side by side with a personal harvester on the same resource and you will notice the difference in the number of resources harvested.

The last day of Beta, I believe medium harvesters were taking twice the maint of personal harvesters. I could be wrong - I'll be sure to find out as soon as I get my second level in architect to try it out

Those harvesters you get for the engineering line... how do they compare to the ones for Architechs? By "personal" does that mean if a friend of mine goes up in the Engineering line he can not make me harvesters because only he can use them?
Thanks

i thought i read somewhere that bigger harvesters are no more 'efficient'. for example, if it harvests 2x the resources it also requires 2x the power and 2x the upkeep. but, they only count as 1 structure against your total structures instead of 2.
