I have crafted 2 harvesters from the artisan trees..Wind and Mineral and they gave Structural EXP and not General Crafting EXP is this right? That EXP is totally unuseable by me and seems odd.

Myself and alot of others asked about this in beta, we never got a response.
There were alot of threads stating in made no sence, all the stuff in the Art line should give gcxp, making those cdef's do NOT give weapons xp, bonearmor does NOT give armorcrafting xp, bofa treats does NOT give food xp, etc...
So why does everyone get stuck with useless structure xp, useless unless your going architect.
By the time you get novice architect, you have enough structure xp to get at least 1, maybe 2 box's. None of the other advance artisan lines can do that.

That is something I have thought about too since beta...it really is hard enough to work up enough to get to level IV on the GCXP. What would it have hurt to have the XP from the deeds in the artisan branch goto GCXP.

To expand on this...the advanced profession that require GCXP require astronomical amounts of GCXP to just become a novice in them. Prime example; 33,000 GCXP to become a novice architect....does anyone realize HOW much GCXP that really is? It is easier for a person to become a Master Artisan then it is to work up one branch and try to become novice in the advanced profession. Just to make a point MA requires 31,500 GCXP plus the Survey XP and the relatively small amount of apprentiship XP.
