How does this work? I have been taught some skills from other players, so I know that aspect. But what if I want to teach someone a skill I have? What do I get out of it? Do I get their experience points or something? What can I use/do with Apprenticeship exp?

Look at the artisan tree. At the top is Master Artisan. If you want to get Master in most skills, you need Apprenticeship xp. You get that by training other players.

To train other players in something they need, group with them, then use the radial menu on them. Teach will be an option. Select what they want and that's all.
