I would like someone to explain this for me though. How can a "casual" player truly advance as a crafter the way it is now and enjoy other aspects of the game? He/She can't cause if they expect to be able to make anything "decent" that player has to grind every minuite they're on. Some professions are pretty usefull @ low level skills but how about Weaponsmith, who can't experiment enough to make their weapon better without higher skills. Same with Armoursmith. Bio engineers who need higher skills to create more powerfull creatures or better enhancements for chefs and tailors. Tailors who doesn't get the attractive or wanted items till @ least lv 3. and DE's who got to find a balance between droid blueprint and modules (which are currently broke) What they need to do is a little modification on how and what you can craft low level items so that novice crafters can compete with higher end crafters when it comes to their wares.

1. More items the lower level crafters can craft. Different droids than just the MSE that DE's can make, Wider variety of clothing for Tailors. etc... etc... etc...

2. Experimentation works differently the higher the dificulty an item is the more experimentation points needed to experiment. Bascally how it is now if I'm crafting an items with dificulty 10 and one of dificulty of 30 I have the same amount of experiment points to use even though one is drastically easier. This will help Weaponsmiths and Armoursmiths the most because low end weapons and armours can be made with pretty good quality @ novice skill. So where the masters who only want to make high level stuff cause they make more money from it, lower level players can still make pretty good items for the players who seek them.

3. Limit the # of same type of factories one player can have. All players can have 1 factory of every type running if they so please, but can't have 3 and 5 of any one type. This would solve problem of (and subsequent nerf) of players using multiple factories to power level. Players who decide to be a Master Artisan will be alowed 1 more. So As a Master Artisan and Armoursmith I'll be able to have 2 weapon factories MAX up at any point. No more. Also running factories if you are within 500m of the factory the player would gain 75% of the XP if the item was crafted by hand and 25% if they are further away or offline.

4. Componets give UXP to the crafter even if he/she is using the componet they make. Componets don't give that much XP in the first place and the UXP from it would not be that siginificent to be considered an exploit. However every little amount of XP counts when you're trying to gain 50K to the next level.

5. Check the equation (if any) on how much XP is given to items. It's supposed to be the more dificult the item the more XP. However I've seen a few ocassions where less dificult items give more XP than ones of higher dificulty. And I'm not talking about I think this is harder to make. I'm going with the dificulty value to the item. I'm not gonna name any specifics unless a dev or corrospondant personaly contact me. We don't want people flying off the handle trying to maximise on this "bug" causing another "nerf" to the game.

Plese feel free to add more suggestions...

Here's my impressions on each point:

1. This would involve adding a lot of assets (graphical and otherwise) and I'd rather see them fix bugs than add assets.

2. Can't really say much to this one, but from what I can tell the number of experimentation points comes from success at creating the item, and skill in that crafting dicipline.

3. I haven't used Factories or read too much about them. No comment.

4. This would so quickly become abused that it would make your head spin. We would have crafters creating items, using them until the UXP maxed out, then make a new one. At least, I THINK the UXP maxes out. If it doesn't, then it would REALLY be exploited.

5. Haven't taken a close enough look. No comment.

Anyway, my 2 cents.

I can talk about this one a bit. The experience you get, at least for chefs, is 2x the amount of resources you put into it, regardless of difficulty. And I can't say it is a bad way of doing it, since that means I am getting a better return on my resources experience wise (money is another issue.)

I do agree completely with # 1, however. Lower levels do need more variety.

PadawanChong it would appear that they arn't. If I play 4 times a week, for 2 hrs each for 3 days and 4 hrs on one day for the weekend. I know I wouldn't be able to advance as fast as the super power gamer but it shouldn't take me 6 months to make 1 skill box. That's all I'm saying. With a factory I'll be able to hang by my house/shop gain 75% of the XP the item would give in my factory while I line up some sales, chat with friends and stock my vendor. I'll make some decent advancement without flying up the tree @ an insane pase. I feel like I'm making progress while I'm enjoying the game.

I think it's also a bad idea to give any bonuses b/c you're a Master Artisan for factories. I don't want to be penalized b/c I chose to go straight to Tailor w/o being a Master Artisan.

It's not penalizing. No crafting profession REQUIRES Master Artisan. It's a choice and works goes into getting it. Therefore yes players should gain a benefit from putting in ALL that work. There's a reason why you're now called a Master. Also you don't NEED more than 1 factory type. I'm not saying the person can only use one factory, just of the same type so you can have 1 wearable, 1 weapon, 1 Structural just not 3 weapon. Get my point. If you want to save your points to go Tailor/Bio Engineer/Apprentise Gunslinger that's your choice if someone else wants to go Master Artisan/Chef then they get the bonus of being able to use 2 of 1 type of factory, they may not be able to make their own enhancement like you do, or hold their own in a fight but it was their choice.
I'm not saying you're wrong Dex I'm just trying to explain what I was trying to propose. Also I appriceate the opposition shoes how strong/weak my point is.

FuzzyAnimator - UXP has a limit, and once you use the componet in the item you can't get anymore UXP for it cause the item is no more after than 1 use. You can't keep reusing a componet.

SirVimes - That would be nice esp when people cry X item is best XP/unit resource for "grinding" (which I hate doing), but how does that take into account componets. Esp now that UXP has been removed from using your own componets.

Did you say you were trying to advance or advance as fast as someone who plays hours upon hours a day?

The answer to that question you asked would be "Over time, you're going to advance"

I've logged a LOT of hours playing Counter-Strike. If they had some way of advancing players, I'd be a God in that game now. Alas, they didn't. SWG does. So log a LOT of hours in SWG (whether it be in a few weeks or a few months) and you will advance too.
