Is it logical for me to assume that whatever they call the vehicle crafting elite profession (mechanic?) will be off of Engineering 4? I've been saving up a lot of general crafting xp so I will be ready to assume this role the day it's available... Anyone else have any thoughts?

many things added just to be a money sink. Everybody wants it so it sinks I would have to think the start tree be artisan. As for what elite? I would have to think a new one. If elite/elite either builder or DE. I not see either them but I not think be a CH I wouldn't hold breath waiting on this to happpen. Go on about playing your character unless of course it like a spare one on another server just hanging around. They still have many problems with the present elite professions that I hope they get worked out before then.

I wouldn't be suprised if they charged maintinance on vehicles. I am expecting heavy dependence on Master Artisan, Droid Engineer, and Architect components, but I hope it's not an elite/elite of DE or Arch.

I am wondering if it will be a Master Artisan elite, but you're right it's more likely to be an elite off of Eng 4.

If vehicles are player craftable it would seem to be. They may make them a money sink item. I HOPE at worst they make certain componets npc bought to provide a money sink, or tack on a usage tax (Licensing fees etc) rather then take away the fun of being able to build them...and someday starships if that is an ELite-Elite of vehicles.

I think the money sink on crafter vs. fighters is actually a good thing, it makes the crafters unable to drop below a certain price and seriously undermine the economy, while giving fighters a lot of extra money to spend, the idea is we are their sink, since we have so many ourselves.... this seems much more in line with star wars than making fighters pay maintenance into a system sink, would a bounty hunter have car payments or just pay n auto mechanic a one time fee for a vehicle?

ahahah car payments... boy loans would be great. The economy is complex enough to support it... and you could hire bounty hunters to track down the people that default on their loans.

Holo said that? well thats fine but i HOPE speeders arent the only type of vehicle in the game. Hover cars, APc's, heck even hover tanks would all be nice and add another dimension to the game. But seeing as how the (at least first) vehicles will be based of mounts, speeder bikes are prob the best at first we can hope for.

But i do hope eventually that we get larger vehicles (Like At-At's as one example) that are crewed...have an interior/etc. not just things you sit on and go fast hehe.

Yes the devs have confirmed that the initial single-person vehicles (swoops and bikes basically) will be in the Engineering tree.

However I'd expect _at least_ a need for master Artisan components (in not Elite-Eng Profession components) and when we finally get the space expansion I'm expecting there to be a new Elite-Eng Profession added for multi-person vehicles (land/air speeders, walkers & spacecraft)

If you're talking about the imment inclusion of speeders, there will be no elite profession. Holo said that speeders will be crafted by anyone with Engineering 3 or 4. As for future updates, like crafting space vehicles, I could see these professions either coming from Engineering, or from a completely new branch of spacefaring professions.
