Thread: Deeds...What else do I need
If you just built yourself a personal mineral extractor, you need three things now.
1) A generator, or other source of power. Harvesters take power to run. Personal harvesters take 600 per day.
2) Credits. Personal harvesters eat 720 a day. Might sound like a lot if you don't have a solid source of profit... but artisan missions are a real boon, even though they don't work entirely correctly.
3) Find a good mineral spot. If its metal (steel/copper/aluminum/iron), 75% is decent, but get the best you can and set 'er down.
I would heartily suggest making yourself a wind power generator and setting it down on the best spot you can find (wind is demonic, often 40% is as high as it goes). Let it generate power for a day, then put down your mineral harvester. If you put down both at the same time, you will have no power to run your harvester because the generator just started working. One wind power generator (which is 1440 credits per day, by the way) on a 40% spot can power something like 3-5 personal harvesters.
Power generators are simply just harvesters for power. You have to collect the power from the WPG and then dump it into the harvester. That means having to make a trip to your WPG and harvesters every day or two so try to keep them relatively close to each other.
Also it has been confirmed that the PE of energy you collect does indeed affect the amount of power you get. For example let's say you have 750 PE wind energy. On a 40% spot you can collect 2880 units of power a day with a single wind generator. But if your PE is > than 500 the ammount you see when you go to add power to your harvesters will be more than that. It will be 2880 * (750/500) = 4320. So getting high quality power does make a relatively large impact. Now you could run 7 personal harvesters instead of simply 4.
The main issue with the harvester game is time. Unless you are fortunate enough to find deposits of various resources you want near each other, you will spend a lot of time running to them to power and maintain them, and the way the resources are shifting these days (at least on Radiant, every few days or so), if you don't go everyday, you won't know when one has shut down because the resource it was mining is no longer there.
