you need to harvest these from creature lairs

You can go up to any lair and out of the radial menu you will see "search lair". This will either give you eggs or a sample of live creature.

I have the samples, what can I craft with them.

Only the "specimin container"

unfortunately the descriptions are misleading. When you look at the sample it says "an artisan might think of a creative way to display these" but the resulting thing just ends up looking like an unlocked container.

You can also take these containers and release the creatures for a fairly nice effect (at least on test center). The container is destroyed afterwards.

I'll mention this at groovefest II on intrepid and see if we can get a nice screenshot. (ehem... equipped camera item? heheheh)

at higher levels of tailer and Bio-enginer you can use them, but as i'm neither i build the contianer, and then 'release into the wild' the critters while i dance at the cantina. the creatures swirl around you for a couple second and with glowzees, moths andbats it has quite a cool effect. but the crowd's favorite is the butterflies.

picture a twe'lik dancing and at the peak of a flourish, a flock of multi-colored butterflies erupt and fill the cantina for a couple seconds.

you could craft contianers and give/sell to entrainers as living fireworks.

so the purpose of crafting 'sample of live' is to showing off only, just like fireworks ???
