So yesterday, I'm in the main Cantina of Bestine, playing with a band (trying to get to Master Musician, so I can soon run a REAL cantina), when someone comes in and asks if I can sell them a speederbike...

Ociv> Can anyone build me a speederbike?

Me> Yes. 35k.

Ociv> Sure, I'll pay.

So, I break out of my music group, andsend a trade request. The window comes-up, and I drop the speederbike on my side. I wait, and nothing happens...except that Ociv decided that he would approve the trade as-is.

Ociv> Complete the trade. Then I'll tip you.

Me> Huh?

Ociv> Trade me the bike, and then I'll pay you.

Me> No.

Me> Secure Trade, or no deal.

With that, the trade window disappeared, replaced by the "Secure Trade Cancelled" message box. Ociv was already gone from the room, and typed nothing further to me.

It's painfully-obvious that he intended to get a vehicle from me, and then stiff me for the cash. In any case, I just wanted people to be on the lookout for Ociv, and anyone else who tries this. To ensure that you do indeed get your hard-earnedmoney, DO NOT complete in-person sales of your wares in any way other than a secure trade.

Ive actaully had that happen in reverse. The person tipped me first, then we traded. This does take trust on the other side also. Am just glad that it works usually. Being based in Brenn on shadowfire, and actually wanting to be a mast art / mast arch I of course wouldnt want to tarnish my name. So there is no way in hell barring a power outage that the trade wouldnt be complete. Now it's kind of hypocritical on my part, that I wont give the person the item first then take the money. If they dont want to tip me first, then they can make the trip to the bank and get the credits and we'll do a secure trade.

I had someone type in 30,000 for an X34, then delete the last 0, and urge me to accept the trade. lol
