Thread: Loading Energy for Personal Mineral Harvester?

A little more unsolicited advice:

If you run wind generators, try build or buy 9 BER (base extraction rate) models. These are cheaper to run than solar panels, which I think max out at 10 BER. The extra point the solars give you is not worth the extra maintenance costs.

I recommend you save up for and purchase a Fusion generator with a BER of 14 (or two, or three). These can be expensive, going from 100k to 200k depending on your server, but a well placed Fusion can supply all your power needs. If you normally buy power, these pay for themselves in about 7 - 10 days. (Depends on the % concentration you find, the PE value, what you normally buy power for, etc)

When searching for radioactive, PE is the attribute you want to be high. OQ has little/no effect wen used as power for factories and harvestors.

I just purchased Fusions number 7 and 8 for my harvestor fleet, and I couldn't be happier. When a decent vein of radioactive spawns, I drop all my fusions on it and my power needs aremet. I actully destroyed my solars last year because no one would buy them.

Kassuf,

Thanks for the advice. I recently put up a guild hall which requires 7 lots and a 2 lot house so I thought that I would fill the last slot up with something. I mainly doing this as a "what to do with only one lot" hobby, but I may alternate between using a Fusion generator and a heavy extractor.

I have had one extra lot for a while so I thought I would drop a harvester on it and see what I could come up with. I have placed the harvester and filled it full of credits but I am having a problem with loading power. I guess I am not sure what kind of power I need. I purchased Wind Crystal Energy and Ardianum II Energy off the bazaar but when I bring up the box to load power into the harvester the slider shows that I have none available to load. I have the power equiped in my inventory (not backpack). I am not an artisan but I from reading the FAQs I don't think that matters. I'm sure this is probably something simple I am missing but if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Those are looted items from the sith spawns. You need to look under radioactive energy on the bazzar.

Only wind energy, solar energy, or radioactive will power a harvester.

Everything else is just another crafting component of some kind.

Ahhhh Genious! OK that makes sense then. I had also purchased petrochem fuel but that didn't work either. I will try either the wind, solar, or radioactive. Thanks to both of you for your help.

Forgot to add look at the Potential Energy (PE) anything over 700-999 will give you twice or more of what the stack shows which means it will last longer.

Thanks for the extra info. I purchased a small amount of radioactive class 3 (sub 700) but I found a nice concintration of radioactive class 3 where my harvester is so I think I will mine that for a while so I can stockpile some for later. Too bad the quality was 698. Story of my life....a day late and 2 OQ points short LOL.

Ummm. Not quite. PE=500 gives 1:1 unit to power ratio.
PE=1000 gives 1:2 unit to power ratio.

Test is easy. take 1000 units of radioactive and open the power port on the harvester. Read the amount of power you have to put in harvester. I believe wind and solar are always PE=500 but I never bothered to check. They wwere always 1:1 or so close I never noticed.

btw a heavy extractor can extract the same radioactives that a fusion plant can. It is not as efficent as the ber is max 13 and you have to put power in it but it will work.
