Thread: Another Issue to Consider: Component Quality
Like many crafters out there who love their art, I am a perfectionist. I pride myself on making components, like energy distributors and power conditioners, with really high effectiveness and durability ratings. I can get most components (except for microsensor suites, which are gated by the conductivity rating on steel) to 98% effectiveness and 54% durability.
Unfortunately, when it comes to master artisan components, my perfectionism is an exercise in futility. It troubles me that my efforts have absolutely ZERO impact on the products these components are made into.
I would love it if the quality of artisan components had an impact on the final product. That would lead to more interdependence. Other crafters who haven’t stocked up on the resources to make good quality components would have to come to Artisans who are conscious of the product they are turning out.
I hope the developers will consider changing this.

I'm not sure about how artisan component quality affects other classes, but for architects it does make a difference. In order to make a 40+ FR crafting stations, you need to have 95%+ experiemented control units (artisan), micro sensor suites (artisan), and droid storage compartments (droid engineer). Using low quailty components will actually hurt the architect, with really bad components I've seen stations with a FR in the negative 30 range (it was around -31 for a customer request for a bad quality station).
Yeah. That's right. But, I think architect items are the ONLY products affected by the quality of the artisan components. Weapons, armor and droids are not.
