If you're talking about throwing items into a Crafting Station Input Hopper, I've had a similiar issue.
My resources stay, but my crates of factory goods don't. Granted it's not as if they disappear forever they're just not getting filtered right. I discovered last night that if you take things out and put them back in they get refiltered correctly; however, if you go outside the building and do something that causes the items within the building to be reloaded, then the filtering in the input hopper goes back to being bad.

Soo, does anyone have any light to shed on the vanishing resources?
I placed them into my hopper, ran to town, POOF.
TONS of resources including some very nice copper, GONE.

If you put them into a crafting station hopper, and then run into town, wouldn't they still be in the crafting station in your house? Or am I just reading this wrong?

The input hopper is in the crafting station, not in the crafting tool.
Odds are they're safely back at your house.

As I was told some time ago, the input hoppers on crafting stations do not track your inventory properly. Put things in them at your own risk.
They are not for storage.

Sony could save its CSRs alot of headaches (not to mention its customers!) if they'd put some in-game warnings on these things. Doesn't the hopper inventory count against house storage? I guess it doesn't matter, I've never used the hopper for anything before and now I never will...

One time I did this because I was in a hurry. Lost 900K of duralloy. I consider it a learning experience.
