Is it just me or is it not possible to experiment on generic crafting tools any longer? Seems there may have been unintended consequences when they removed the ability for W/D/G crafting tools to craft all the items a generic tool can make. Now only a generic crafting tool can be used to make another generic crafting tool (bit of a paradox, don't you think?). Since you can't experiment using a generic, all new generics will have negative functionality ratings.
This might not be a problem, except some things can *only* be made by a generic crafting tool (i believe spices fall into this category).

That's right, you cannot experiment on them anymore. Have you tried a food&chemical for making spice?

Food/Chem does indeed make spice.
To my knowledge, anything that you can make on a generic can be made on one of the specialty tools as well, allowing for experimentation. I have yet to personally run across a "generic" schematic that I couldn't craft on a specialty tool.

Only Item i have run across that cant be crafted on a specialty tool is the generic crafting tool itself.

I still have a schematic from when we could experiment on the generics. It won't even load into a factory.

I posted on this back when it first hit TC in early June. I still have an experimented GCT. I am not sure if the Devs realize there are uses for these experimented. I use one rated 12.87for crafting both precision laser knives and well a spices as needed, since it replaces the need for a WD&GCT and a food and chemical crafting tools.
Personally I'd like to see the 'Misc' category just move back over the 'Generic Items'; I don't see why they need both. Although, I am glad to need different tools for different crafting like we had at launch.
