So I've been digging stuff up all day, and at some point I realized my XP wasn't actually going up. I had hit 1000 xp in survey and 1000 xp in general crafting, and hadn't been going up for hours. I'd been building stuff and putting it up for sale on the Bazaar without checking. What's up with that? I haven't made nearly enough money yet to shell out the 1000 credits for a skill upgrade. Seems like a mismatch between crafter-only income and XP gained making said income.

Train at an artisan trainer, you need 1,000 credits to bring each one up, so 2,000 credits total

It looks like you can only go so far above what you need for the next level so you can;t jsut do it all at once.

To clarify what Grimoire was saying: You can't gain more xp of a given type than twice the highest skill cost you currently qualify for. So if you have engineering 3, and nothing in domestic arts or business, then you can get up to 12,000 general crafting xp, since Engineering IV costs 6,000.
