Is it based solely off of the cumulative number of resources used to construct an item? I can't seem to figure out what gives the best 'bang' for one's 'buck'. For instance, I'm at Domestic II, and presently been churning out Shortsleeved Jackets, which give me a good 90 EXP a pop. That's more than half over what I was getting from CDEF Rifles, which I relied upon for experience before I could handle the Jackets.

Generally you get 2 crafting experience for every resources that goes into the item.
This is slightly different for some items, and for one important variant - vastly different. For weapon powerups, you get 4 exp for each resource that goes into the item. These take 10 materials and give 40 experience - about the best thing if you're into "grinding" to gain experience.

You also get Usage Exp. Usage exp is given to you if someone else uses the item you've made (Only the first usage). So if I made a 50xp rifle (25 resources x2) and sold it to someone who used it, I'd receive a total of 125 exp for that item. (50 x 150% = 75 75+50=125) I know the UXP modifier is something like 100% for Deeds, 50% for foodstuffs, and 150% for any other item.
