Thread: Power in Harvesters, question
Yesterday, or the day before got Eng 3 and built my first Mineral Harvester. I found a vein of 81% and placed it there. I feed it maybe 5-7 radioactive units and none since. Now, before the server went down, there is 0 in power reserve yet it still pumps out the minerals.
My question is: What is the purpose of power? Does it increase the effectiveness while there is something in the reserve? Does it slow down decay or damage?
From memory: I think the actual effectiveness is running at 1.5ish and the max is 2%
Thanks
This is a bug that I suspect will eventually be fixed. However - if you change the resource type from what it is now harvesting, to a new type - the machine will not start running until you feed it some more power.
Watch those maintenance costs. You can just not pay them, and over a short period of time your harvester will slowly deteriorate and fall apart and just not be there one day - taking anything in the hopper with it. You can just build another one - but with resources coming and going and moving around - it might not be as easy to do. And - once you start making the heavy duty deep core harvesters that require complex sub-components - it may just be cheaper in the long run to keep the maintenance paid.
Stick a Wind harvester near your factory and other harvesters. It will generate enough power to keep them all going, and does not itself require power.
Thanks, I was beginning to suspect that was the case.
OIne quick follow-up question: When I did feed it power, it never asked what power type I wanted to use. At the time I had radioactive and wind and probably petro (if that counts). It simply said 230 units. Is each item the same or does it multiple the item by the power rating (or whatever it uses) and sums them up?
Thanks again,
