I have tried a few different servers ( trying ot find one that both me and my friends like ) I noticed that resourrse (steel) are different of different servers. Is it just me or do you start off with different resources on different servers? I build the exact same character and started in teh exact same place. Any comment would be helpful

Resources come and go. They can be depleted. Just because you found a nice spot with 90% Aluminum today, doesn't mean it will be there tomorrow or the day after. But, another type of aluminum may appear on the planet - in a different location.

Some types of resources are very rare in the galaxy and may only exist on a single planet at a time. Some of the advanced skills, such as weaponsmith, require very specific resources to make certain items. You may have to planet hop to find that particular Phrick Aluminum you need - or use the bazaar in a galaxy wide search, and then travel to pick up your purchase.

You may also see brief periods of time where certain planets are totally exhausted of certain types of resources. You may see a few days where Talus has absolutely no copper. It will eventually reappear, but may not be the same type.

This can be frustrating if you have a factory making a certain type of widdigt and the schematic calls for a certain type of resource - which used to be plentiful, but now is only found on the backside of Yavin IV.
