Thread: Is anyone making any money?
Ok I know the answer to this for some people is definately a 'yes' but let me be more specific....
I have Survey IV and Eng II (and I'm very very very close to Eng III), I've also picked up Novice Ent and Novice Scout partially to get some more stuff to build and partially to offset my dependance on other players until the rest of my friends get their copies.
While I'm not one to grind I did a large stint of couplers last night, mainly because they are quick to knock out but mainly because I figured that all ranged weapon users would want them (hence there being a market for them), I decided against using the Bazaar (how much does it cost to sell now anyway?) so I stood in town for 30 minutes advertising couplers. Sometimes I included the price, other times not (to see if the price was the problem). I started selling at 50 credits each (I saw ones on the Bazaar for 100 and figured they hadnt sold because they were too expensive) and then tried dropping to 25 credits to see if that made a difference.
So long story short - are any of you having luck selling the low level artisan items?
I've been making enough to keep my head above water, and not have to sweat my maintenance costs.
No, I'm not rich, but I do have plenty of time for selective crafting with quality outcomes.

The main part of my money is coming in from GTCs and survey tools.
To get to ENG3 I made about 25 powerups. Gave them all away. The problem right now is that no one knows what to do with them, how to install them, or why they would want items with efficiencies. I'm trying to get them addicted so we can sell them to them later. Actually, I don't ever see a market to sell them. They cost so little compared to other items and you can crank em out pretty fast. And everyone is making them to get crafting exp.
Face it. You're not going to make much (any?)money at general artisan. There are a lot of us and the items we make aren't that great. Later in the game, when most people are running out of training points there will be a lot smaller proportion of artisans. People will need those points to become Bounty Hunters or Commandos. But by then there will be factories to churn out the high demand items.
It will be interesting to see how things turn out.
No, I am not making any cash either. The best luck that I have had is to stand in a busy part of town and offer free CDEF's, powerups, and training. About half of the chars will tip you for your troubles. Also if they don't you get some exp. When someone uses your crafted items you get more exp. When there is a lull I run some FedEx missions.....

I think the best suggestion I've read on the message board so far for selling stuff is analyzing the bazaar first. Check which items are selling, which aren't... Check the dates on the items, are they still sitting around after seven days? Are prices rediculous (either way too high or way too low) compared to the amount of resources and time that go into that particular item? Are there items not even listed on the bazaar (those are the real ones to watch for)?
Also consider ifitemssold in another planetary city priced significantly less than your own city. Why not buy a shuttle ticket, buy up all the items cheap, and bring them back to your home city. Essentially you can make your own "FedEX" missions.
Basically all this iscommon business sense, but not everyone is aware of these things. Just a few ideas on things to look for, there are certainly many more.
I'm making pretty good money selling bone armor. Always try to undersell the
others by 100-250 credits. My stuff doesn't stay around long.
I am making a small amount of money. I am selling resources, not crafted items. I did a bunch of missions, bought a small fleet of harvesters, and now sell the resources. It pays for the maint and a small profit.
I sell the resources in lots of 250 and set very fair prices. I also make it an instant sell, because crafters do not want to wait for the resources. I also have a /macro that I keep updated, and will sell my resources in a NON-Bazzar transaction.
Welcome to the joys of a flooded market..everyone is making their powerups and lower level items to get their skills up. The game is set-up for this to happen and with the large flux of new players, it will take some time for the cream to rise.
Basically, patience is needed. The more people get to know the game better and how items work and the gmore guides available later, the more things will improve. Artisan is not for everyone and I think a lot of people are doing to follow the limited guides out there that tell the same thing. Eventually things will ride out as people surrender skills and people want to spend more time simply killing things.
Just think of these lower items as a small step to the ultimate prize. Will not make much money now, but will allow you to increase your skills to get to the items that make the serious money.
