Crafters....There are too extremes here. We need to walk a fine line.

Please don't put everything you make on the bazaar. Make stuff for the crafting xp and then destroy it...if you experiment and make a few decent things, put only the best stuff on, don't charge too much for it, and make sure there isn't already 100 of them in the bazaar already.

If there is, destroy it. Don't give it away for free. For everything you give away fro free, you take 50-100 credits away from a struggling crafter.

Creative naming is good too, but don't over name it. put the vital stats in the name so peeps can see quick.

I agree that the bazaar is cluttered. But as the game matures and the players understand it better it will become less so. Unfortunately where will be always some newbie who will post 1 grain of wheat for 3000 credits, but that cannot be helped.

Your plea will not stop people from giving things away. Because of the UXP effect it is in their best interest to get items they've produced into circulation, even when selling at a loss or giving it away.

If you check the older forum messages, you will see that others hav made similar requests and they too have failed to produce tangible results.

I feel your pain, but this is current state of affairs and it is unlikely to change.

I routinely give away General Crafting Tools and Mineral Survey Devices to people who start Artisan as a second or third (etc...) class.

However, having said that, I also sell them on the Bazaar, generally for a low price (anywhere from 30-100 credits, depending on how many are presently on the bazaar and what they're priced at).

Ooh, my favorite is when someone asked if they could buy a Carbine. Having just put one (the only weapon that I had successfully experimented on at that point), I told them to check the Bazaar. They blindly bid on the firstCarbine they saw... which was an auction ending 6 days in the future... then told me to accept their bid.

This really turned me off of selling weapons on eBay the Bazaar, and I haven't done it again since. Armor, on the other hand...

DarkTieFighter,

There are two types of players that post the stuff you are referring to. The first group are people that just don't know any better, the second group are those that want to take advantage of the first group.

Personally I think they are doing those of us that sell quality items a favor. It makes our merchandise all the more attractive. I keep 2-3 of my CDEF pistols on the Bazaar all the time. People look through all the 17-37 dmg, 4+ speed, then they see mine with 30-63 dmg, 3.4 speed. I sell several a day.

Last week I tried something. I was playing a character (I have two accounts) that was Marksman/Scout and I was looking for some powerups for my ranged weapons. I looked on the bazaar, there was nothing but crap. I noticed one of the crafter's names was someone I'd seen around. I sent that person a /tell and struck up a conversation. Now that person is my friend and makes powerups to drool over.

As far as giving items away goes. I feel a responsibility to help new players get started on the right foot. I will usually give a Generic Crafting Tool, Mineral, Flora Survey tools, or a couple CDEFs with powerups. Heck, there are a million things I don't know, maybe they'll help me later with some of those...

The key is, don't flame them, help them. I left a MMO for SWG where new players weren't welcome, heck most of the 'oldtimers' weren't. Lets make SWG fun for everyone.

i agree with you.
im not flaming anyone. just suggestions.

but dude, honestly, after looking at 100 CDEF's named CDEF blaster...i'll be bored before i ever get to your good quality one.

I think you are wrong about that one point tho. flooding the bizaare isn't making your quality stand out...instead its getting buried.

so untill sorting by attributes becomes a feature at the bizarre, im asking some lower level crafters to not try and sell everything they craft. i think most will agree with this little tid-bit.

Im as low as it gets. I make 100 things. I sell one or two that are my best things (exp + quality resources). sometimes people just sell everythign they make. they'll stop whether they read my post or not, cause theyll run out of money at 20cr a pop.

DarkTieFighter,

Sorry I didn't mean to say that I thought you were flaming. I was suggesting that those of us artisans that have been playing for a while take the time to help out the players that don't know any better.

What I meant about flaming was if you /tell them about their products, offer to help them rather than yelling at them. The person I helped this way is now my best 'ingame' friend. The result was he/she removed all of the poor quality items from the Bazaar and replaced them with fewer excellent quality items.

I agree there is a very long list of CDEFs and such in each region. I think that's probably always going to be the case because it's something you can make the minute you become an artisan.

I also agree that sorting by additional criteria would be great. Perhaps a search?

I would like to see the Maker's name in one of the columns.

Just a comment about quality. I like the feature that allows the crafter to rename their item. I have noticed that many have not taken advantage of this as the bazaar is flooded with items under their standard names. I think name-brand identification is a nice way to indicate quality in a bazaar flooded with generic items. Sure, there may be knock-offs by would-be competitors, but a quick check on the item maker would confirm if it was an "original" item.
