I'm wondering when droids will become programmable to handle the tedium of tending harvesters. Download your harvester locations, give the droid a few thousand credits and power resources, and let your pet do the footwork so that you actually have the time to sit around the cantina and talk a little instead of micro-managing your resources. We already have enough boring repetition with the neverending click-cycles for crafting, and endless hours of surveying to keep up with the constantly shifting resources - we should be allowed to save time on installation maintenance. So what if we have to pay extra to maintain the droid, it's worth the time saving. Even if we still had to collect the resources from the hoppers personally, this would be a great pet ability. As it is, crafters don't really have any use for pets or soldiers, but this would be a great time-saver, and would create a market for the droid engineers to sell to.

Also, why can't we authorize automatic upkeep payment to the harvesters, houses, factories, etcfrom our bank? I can't understand how a civilization able to invent FTL travel and force fields can't handle the idea of automated, centralizedbill payment when we have that in real life already.

You make some good points, except I can forsee a couple of major problems.

1. you use a droid to maintain your harvesters, carrying credits and energy out to do the dirty work. -- only the droid gets attacked and destroyed and you lose not only the droid but all it was carrying.

2. you get the bank to automatically pay for the upkeep of harvester/house/other structure of your choice. -- Do you REALLY want to allow your bank to be automatically debited in an environment that is so /bug laden? You would log on and find yourself bankrupt, I fear.
