im new to crafting. i am not getting any ex for making stuff. i have all the supplys and i am at the crafting station, and the item is created and put into my inventory, but NO xp for making stuff. what am i doing wrong?

What are you making? What profession are you trying to gain xp for? How much xp do you have?

There are several profs that make things, but you only get xp for that profession when making an item learned in that profession. For example, scouts get the ability to make traps and camps, crafting those items gets you scout xp (or maybe survival xp, they've changed things around a few times), not artisan xp. If you're working on an elite crafting profession, you won't get xp for that making artisan items, even if they're of the right type. So if you're a Novice weaponsmith, you won't get any weaponsmith xp for making CDEF pistols.

There's also a cap on how much xp you can "bank". This is generally equal to 2x the xp required for the highest skill box you can train with that xp. So if you're at 1200 Artisan, the highest box you can train with artisan xp is Dom Arts 3, which requires 3000 artisan xp. Once you reach 6000 xp, you can't earn any more without training a higher box (which increases your cap).

There was also a bug in the past where xp gain got "lagged". You could make a bunch of items, your xp doesn't increase, but after a while in-game (or a logout/login), the xp popped in. That bug might have snuck back in.
