Ok, a newb question here....

I decided to make my alt a crafter and I had a question about resource spawns. When a specific resource spawns does it always have the same stats or does it change each time it comes back out? I'm hoping to save time by making a list of stuffI consider junk, acceptable, good and uber. If a specific resource always has the same statsthen I can know whatquality categoryit falls into without having to sample it each time. (I am not referring to hide, bone or meat. Thanks for the help.

BTW for almost a year all I've done is kill stuff....the crafting is very fun and addictive and a nice change of pace.

It changes, every time, and creates a new name as well, this goes for every resource, including animal stuff

EDIT: to clarify if fiberplast Joop spawns all Joop will be identical,
but next spawn of fiberplast will have new name and new stats.
spawns do not 'respawn' after they run

Go read thru SWGcraft for a fair idea on how and what spawns are.

Actually SWGCraft is what is confusing me...it says a certain resource (i.e Joop) will spawn in X# of days. I guess I assumed that resources spawned in a cycle. Joop will always be the same, and that when it becomes available in X# of days it will be the same as it was before. Or is Joop only available once EVER in SWG? If so the Culsion Inert Gas for 4th gen sabers, from January or so that was UBER will never come around again and I'll never have perfect sabers like some folks...bummer.

How DOES SWGCraft know when stuff willbecome availableand with what stats if its not from previous spawns? Is it published by SWG or is someone able to read game code and decipher it?

What I'm getting at really is this: If I have some really good stuff, but little of it will it EVER come around again so I can get more? Because if SWGCraft reportssomething will spawn in 100days, with excellent stats (regardless if its ever been seen before)I want to plan my harvestors and such to be available for that spawn.

Thanks, sorry for the dumb questions.

I think I see your confusion.

The "Unavailable for ## days" swgcraft has shows how long it's been since that resource shifted out, not how long until it comes in. That's mainly to give a historical reference to how old an out-of-spawn resource is, which sometimes helps determineit's value (if a good Ditanium steel hasn't spawned for a while, prices for it will go up), and can act as a guide to how likely you'd be able to find some for sale. Something that's been unavailable for a few days is much more likely to be for sale than something that's been unavailable for 18 months.

Exactly like Sci says.

they mean since spawn has occured.

and to answer those questions about only spawning once, Yup.

It spawn and when gone it is gone

a new spawn may have better or worse stats and will always be named differently, but so far a spawn has never reoccured {shown up more then once}

And just as another plug for swgcraft:

It's a player-updated site, they don't extract any information from the game itself except what is entered by players who have done the surveying and sampling. So if you've got some spare time, check whether anything listed as current has shifted out, or see if anything new has shifted in, grab a quick sample and enter it in. It's an easy way to pay back to (IMO) an excellent crafter community.
