Thread: Tips for a new Artisan/Marksman
I am quite new to this game and have only played a few hours so far. If you are an artisan I'd love to hear some of your tips to help me along. I'm looking for info on:
1. Surveying
2. Creating / Selling items (I don't want to get taken to the cleaners at the market)
3. Not getting my butt whooped in the field.
Thanks and have fun dudes!

hmmmm..
Basic questions with complicated Answers...
Surveying.. What problems are you having?? The easiest start is to open the mineral survey, set the range, and then click one of the items and press survey. You won't start gaining exp for surveying until you actully start sampling and actually retrieve what you are sampling.. Best bet is to look for something in the 70% range or better.
When starting off, the only items that aI've had great success selling have been General Crafting Tool(I sell for about 200 Credit), some Rifles(I sell for 100 Credits, 250 if I add a scope) and survey devices for 250 Credits.
If I've over loaded the market, or just want to Grind out EXP, I create many Power ups(Scopes, Couplers, Etc..) and then destory them.
As for not getting killed, don't shoot!!! LOL J/K actually I only have done basic fighting against those that register Green or Blue to me.. Took on 1 White and barely beat him, but again that's what I expect when I haven't trained anything but Survey and Eng.!!
mmm....
let's see.....
1. try sampling for minerals/chemicals at 70% or higher.
2. still working on that part
3. I picked up carbine skills. I still can't take on many things by myself (with intermed carbine and basic ranged support) but I'm more competent in combat at least.
1. Don't fret on surveying it will gradually rise on its own as you look for metal/whatever else. You will need tools however. If your an artisan you can build everything using a general crafting kit. I'd suggest building the metal survey tool then the chemical survey tool first though.
2. Creating is easy, Just use the shcematics on the various tools. Since item creation only costs time and some effort, You never really get taken to the cleaners. I'd suggest browsing the market first then price your items. Right now on crunchy treats I'm doing them at 50. which is basically cost and a bit
3. Range. Hmm. Range is important. Pick something that dosn't shoot back. Probably some sort of critter.
I have had no problem getting credits/experience so far in the field. However I haven't shot at very much that shoots back. Some improtant tips for range combat is remeber to be prone and at max range to start. You'll hit more and for more damage. If the creature starts to charge switch to kneeling or standing. kneeling gives you better chances to hit while standing gives you that option to do that classic run the hell away and fire at anything you can (Aka Han In the death star) Also remeber to use your legshots and other specials to hit the lowest bar on the creature instead of bashing away at a full health bar.
Hope that helps

Excellent ... thanks for the tips
I've been doing fairly well with the surveying by following the percentage up to the highest concentration and camping out for a while. The biggest part is just waiting for the prices to balance out in Bazaar.
Thanks again!
