Thread: How do I 'Experiment'?

This past weekend I pretty much just played around learning the basics of the game and I'm left with 1 major question ... how do I experiment? Is this something that's done for you in the background (afterit checks your skill levels)while creating a prototype, or something you do with a schematic, or ... ??? I haven't gotten real far into my skills, but do I need a certain skill to be able to do it?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Whew, that's a relief. For a minute there, I thought I had to be at the right place, at the right time, doing a randomized sequence of events that was different for each player. - Slimey

I had this same questions after I started using my artisan. If you have your level 1 engineering stat you can create a mre specific crafting tool. The generic one is just that , generic you need to construct a weapons and tools crafting tool, or a armor and clothing crafting device. They offer you the basic options to "experiment".

Thanks for the input!

I've gotten as high as Survey IV and Eng III. I did learn that I can craft while I survey. I also learned that until the prototype device has been put into your inventory you can't use the crafting tool again ... so I created a weapons (it does some other things too) crafting tool in order to craft faster. However, while creating CDEF weapons I noticed noadditional screens with the weapons crafting tool. Can I not experiment on CDEF weapons or do I get the screen but not know what I'm looking at? The only thing I've noticed as far as customizing a CDEF weapon is using different materials in the construction and being able to change the name.

in order to experiment you need to find a weapon station (found throughout town) and use the specific crafting tool to that station.

ex. weapon crafting tool by the weapon station

And right before you create the item it will give you the choice to
1. create prototype
2. create schematic
3. experiment

experimenting can GREATLY increase the stats of a weapon

Have Fun

AH HAH!!! I knew there was something I was missing ... being by the station in town. Wondered what those were for all weekend because I couldn't use them. LOL

Thank you all so much for your help. Now if I can survive the last 20 mins of work without going crazy wanting to experiment on some weapons.

Anybody know what determines the amount of experiment points you get? (the green blocks on the left of the experiment screen)
