Thread: The single most important thing to help our profession:
I know this might sound ludicrous, but I sincerely think that the most important thing to help our profession (and to help avoid burnout) would be to make "regular run" the same speed as the current "burst run" and then have "burst run" even faster than the current burst run.
I know, the devs are laughing and you all probably think I'm crazy, but with the resources shifting every day (and even 8 days is crazy enough) and some cities with the most insane no-build zones (yes, Daeric is my HOME and I don't want to go anywhere else *sniff*) this running back and forth to FIND resources, then running back and forth to add maint fees/power is absolutely driving me out of my mind!!!
Increase the run speed on the creatures if necessary to balance, butit currently takes about an hour to run the no-build perimeter of Daeric (and that's if you don't stop). Every time the resources change, it's hours of running around, moving things and desperately trying to find new spots....it's maddening!!
Vehicles would help, but I don't know if I can avoid burnout on this game (and the crafting professions) until that time. Am I the only one that feels this?

ps. This is a shorter version of a (hopefully well received) essay in the general dev board on what I think is going to cause people to burn out the quickest on SWG: running around ![]()
SaintChuck:
That's not a bad suggestion, but on Chilastra (at least) resources are shifting VERY wildly. Sometimes every day, sometimes every few days (but never longer than 4 or 5 days). What you suggest could turn into a huge credit loss under current conditions.
OctopusSoup:
Your suggest has merit as well, although you're VERY optimistic if you think they're coming "soon". From everything I've seen on this project so far, I can't help but think that bugs will plague it so that it'll be forever until they're usable, or else mounts will be like EQ (ie, a million credits in our economy for anything fast enough to be worthwhile) ...or maybe just worthless in general. I have high hopes for vehicles though, and that's the honest truth. BUT, I would love to be proven wrong on the timing thing...it's just a month into the game and the servers aren't even stable yet...so, I just don't see it happening "soon".
