Thread: Can vendors be traded?
I am interested in something like a "smuggler's drop". I would like to place a vendor in a house to use to trade items between friends when we can't be on the same planet or in the game at the same time. Offer something to the vendor for a credit and my friend would pick it up for a credit. Unfortunately, I jumped to a combat profession before attaining the skills to hire one. Is something like this possible? If so, would someone offer a price for a vendor?
I am on the Corbantis server based on Corellia but willing to travel to get it if this can be done. Based on the price, I might have to run a few missions so I am mostly just fact finding for the time being. If you would also post the resources listed in the schematic, I may be able to bring my own resources.
Artisans gain the ability to place Vendors by advancing in the Business branch. 2 skills, Vendor and Hiring, determine the number and type of vendors, respectively, that can be place. If you don't have these skills then you can't place the Vendor and if you do have these skills you can only place the number and type of vendors appropriate to your skill. Either way, there is no reason to trade them because they cost nothing to produce for those that have the skill and they are useless for those that don't.
The only way I see to effect what you are suggesting is for you to find an Artisan willing to waste a vendor and set you and your friend up with permission to use it.
I think you also answered my second question. I switched from engineering a while back and never rounded out the Business tree but I'm up to Business II. If I get one more block, I should be able to hire and place one of the boxy bazaar type vendors is that correct? I'll just have to check my skill points and make sure that doesn't leave me in trouble because it sounds like I really won't be able to administer the vendor if I surrender the skill later.
One more question, how many vendors will I be able to place with Business III? I had hoped to have two. From what I understand, if the vendor is in a secure location, I should be able to place items on it for a credit and have my friends pick it up for a credit and vice versa -- kind of a "smugglers drop". I would also like a vendor to place in a public place without fear of the 1 credit "dropped" items being picked up -- unless there is a way to offer an item to a specific person..
If I can hire only 1 at Business III, can I still be traded one because I have the skills? It looks a bit like multiple vendors are a skill in themselves so it would not surprise me if that also can't be done.
You will only have 1 vendor at Business III, you need to advance to Novice Merchant before you get a 2nd vendor.
As for your Smugglers drop idea, the easiest way I can think of to do it is to place one house and make it private, give only those that should be able to have access to the items you are putting up for one credit access to the house. If you want to have a public vendor you will need a 2nd house that is public.
The reason for this is that you can't set seperate rooms in a house to seperate privacy levels (yet), you can only choose to have the house be Public or Private and all vendors are public, gated only by who is allowed in the house. So everyone who is allowed in the house is allowed to use the vendor.
