Business III allows the placement of a vendor in your house. The vendor available at that level is a gigantor box that stands almost as tall as a Wookie and as big around as a Hutt. Business IV allows placement of a Bazaar-like terminal in your house.

For the time being it seems as though the Merchant XP is still gained on a time basis (you get XP for having a vendor up with stuff in it) which I hear will be changing to an XP reward when the vendor is accessed, some one buys something from vendor, and if you have a cover charge on your house. I had qualified for Novice Merchant before I finished my Business Tree off... then again I was trying to get to my next Melee smithing box and ditched my drive to hit master arty.

The Gigantor vendor can have some high maintenance, depends on the total price of goods place in it for sale. I had mine peak out around 30. Once you hit novice merchant you get the option to place a random NPC vendor. No matter how much stuff is in my vendor its maintenance is 1, probably a bug but I'm enjoying it while I'm trying to get my business off the ground. I haven't paid much attention but I'm pretty sure that the maintenance is figured the same as harvesters, creds per half hour. Which reminds me... but that's another topic..

You have to get to level 3 in the marketing line of the artisan tree. Not sure about the cost to maintain but it goes up with the more items you have in it. Or at least it did at one time.
