I register my vendors on the planetary map and the next day they are gone? This seems to happen often? Why? Do you have to reregister them daily? This seems ridiculous.

It's the number one Merchant bug right now (IMO) - the only skill that allows you to advertise your location remotely. Been bugged since the beginning. They don't seem to care as there have been no dev responses to this issue and it has not been fixed 
And YES - you have to reset it every day - if you have a job and leave for work before the servers come up (like me) then tough tata's - you can't get reregistered until the evening.

First you need to get the novice merchant skill and earn your way up to Advertising 3. Then you can click on your vendor and choose "Register Vendor". It will ask you what category and then the vendors name will appear on the map under whatever category you chose.

Like was said before, it goes away every day.
To be specific whenever they reset the servers at 7am Pacific Time. To fix it you'll have to unregister and then register again. Its a real pain in the butt.
