Thread: Newbie artsian walk through for those that want it.
ok i know almost everyone here is prolly mastered by now but this is for those that are jsut starting out or maybe just want to get like merchant.
these are the things you will need:
4 total crafting units (generic prefered for this walkthrough)
lots of material, cause you're gonna need it lol, a metal of some kind, and wood, and when i say lots i mean like 20k min of each.
ok this first part is for those that are just starting out as artsians those that just want a specailty class can skip down to the *
ok as of right now without any changes to the crafting system you have just become a artsian.
you have a mineral surveying device and a generic crafting device, first thing, run and do some delivery missions to get soem cash or find a nice (yes we exsist) artsian who can make for you the crafting devices you will need, and also see if you can sweet talk them into a set of surveying devices, you'll need them later when you're done grinding and want to put up harvesters.
Ok we now have our crafting tools, and a little cash extra, try and find some cheap materials and bring them with you. after you buy some cheap material preferably metal and some chem to make the different low items ( sorry don't have my list with me) bofa treats, and weapon power ups are best starting, even the generic melee power up.
now what you want to do is fire up that survey device, find a good consentration of material, again preferably metal of some kind as that is used in almost every item crafted. you can usually find a material of one kind or the other in town, find the highest consentration of material in town that you can, since it's the safest place to sample and you're jsut starting out. Now you've found your spot, get comfy you're gonna be here a while.
now drag those 4 crafting devices you have up to your hot key bar. Goto your options menu, and turn off crafting confrim messages. now, after all that is done start up your sampling, while you're sampling (you'll continue automaticly as long as you have HAM left) and start up your crafting devices, while you're sampling start making your items,( * )when you get to the create prototype screen make sure you have the practice button checked, it'll save time on not having to delete items later and gives you roughly a 5% bonus to your General crafting xp. just keep crafting til you stop sampling, then just have your charter sit and heal while you keep crafting make sure to keep an eye on your HAM (for those still working on their surveying xp) once you're healed start sampling again, wash, rinse, repeat, until you have enough xp you get your first level in General crafting. Now for this to work the fastest, no matter what class your shooting for first, you want to work your way up the enginerring tree. Once you get up to rifles switch from what you were making to the rifles (45 <ish> xp a pop) continue as you have been refilling those materials you need.
after a few hours max you should be at engerring 4 if you are cycling through your crafting machines while one is going you start the next one. Now to get your pecialty class you have maxed engerring 4 (please forgive the bad spelling) you will be able to make heavey axes, this is where the wood you first picked up comes into play, Heavey axes are worth 89 GC xp a pop, continue to make these axes until you have reached teh desired amount of general crafting xp you get your specialty class, even if it is nothing more then master artsian (yes you'll need to teach people skills for that for apprentice xp but that's another story) if you can keep your materials up you can have master artsian and novice in 2 other (minimum) eletie classes withing 3 weeks only playing 4 hours a day
for you power gammers well, well see you sky rocket alot faster.
Now i know people say no no no make power ups, umm no, it cost more materials for rifles and heavey axes but the XP pay off is better, and faster then with weapon power ups.
don't beleive me? try it yourself and jsut say thanks later.
/blantant bump
sorry all have people constantly asking me how to level
and i know someone with a carring PA that made novice Weapon Smith and Merchant with these tips in days and alot of coffee.
Have fun ![]()
20k copper
20k aluminum
20k fiberplast
5k inert petrochem
5k carbonite ore
5k steel
1k wood
Am I missing anything here? That's what I use the most of.
You'll need about 1 unit of metal for each 2 exp you need to grind. So for architect (33k exp) you need to use up 17k metal in grinding.
