Thread: What's the benefit of using Solar instead of Wind?

I use to think that with solar generator, you get much more power units per minute than a wind generator. However since last patch, I have solar gen with lower spec rating than wind gen.

For example, I have a solar at spec of 5 and a wind at spec of 6. Does this mean that if wind and solar resource are at the same percentage, the wind gen actuallycollects more power than themore expensivesolar gen?

Then you need to shop for a better solar generator.

So in theory, you can build a "good" wind generator that will generate more power than a "stock" solar generator?

This is assuming both generator are sitting on the same % of their prospective resource. And ignoring the cost difference of running the two kinds of generator.

They're going to "fix" all the harvesters soon, returning them to pre-patch status. The biggest benefit you'd have to using Solar power is generally you can find higher percentages of solar power, which means higher amounts of energy harvested.

Your best bet, if you can afford it, is to buy a fusion reactor. That way you get to take advantage of high PE radios, and a much higher harvest rate than wind or solar. You can also just sell the excess energy you produce for a nice profit.
