Thread: Food buffs question
OK I have done almost no experimentation with food buffs, so forgive me if this seems like a stupid question. When you get a buff, say +50 strength for 50 seconds, does that mean that if your health bar is full, it will increase your total amount of health by 50? Or does that mean that if you're at -60 health, it will refill 50 and leave you at -10, then drop back down after 50 seconds? I have eaten foods and never seen the bar move, but perhaps the bar stays the same even when you buff. I've never had the character window open at the time to witness the actual results. I could just experiment tonight when I get home, but hey if I'm surfing the boards at work I might as well get some good info eh?
What happens is this
For example, you eat a fur-cle onion which gives you +456 action for +500 seconds
If you have completely full action of say 1000 normally, your action stat rises to 1456 total after eating the onion.
It takes about 1second/5 points to increase the full potential, so it will take you about 91 seconds to reach the full potential of the onions benefits
Then the buffer wears off after about 408 seconds.
In summary, its best to eat/drink buffers before you take action, and wait until they have reached their full potential.
If you eat/drink something and don't see the HAM bars move it's because the buff is to something other than health, action or mind. The buffs to the secondary stats don't appear on the HAM bar, but you will notice them (if the buff is large enough) when you start regenerating and/or using special moves. The secondary stats decrease the rate at wich special moves cost you HAM and they increase the regeneration rate of the HAM stats.
That's the problem with a lot of food buffs. Some people will try your food, they don't see any immediate effect and assume your food is worthless.
Oh well.
