The resources turning over in a day?

I gather it's actually 6-8 days or something.. But people don't find it until the 7th day and then place a harvester there...

Are these times going tobe made longer?

What about adding the ability for Surveyors to determine approximately how long a resource will be available?

How long will a fix for this problem be in coming to us?

Thank you!

Well being a person who had to delete 5 harvestors yesterday and becoming broke in the process. I wish they would degrade the ammount being mined for. And not just go from 76% to 0 in less than a 14 hour period. I mean in reality a miner would notice that it is slowly lowering and not just disappear all together.

But to do it the way they are doing is just stupid. Because it does not give us any type of warning of when our harvestors are no longer mining something.

Something needs to be done to remedy that problem

I run a users group for horse racing games, but my second love if mmorpgs. I have been promoting SWG to the group and have gotten some to join in with me. One thing that I have been trying to keep from the group is my growing frustration with materials disappearing overnight from the entire planet of Naboo! When I had 3 - 4 sources for Gemstones or Radioactive energy two or three days ago to now only having one source for each! I found a nice source of energy for my Wind Generator. I built it and left. I came back only four hours later to find that it had stopped. I checked to see what had happened and got a message that the material that it had been extracting had been depleted so the generator had turned itself off!ÂÂA really nice vein runs out in four hours?!Â

This is certainly blowing my role playing ability and is beginning to worry me as to how much fun SWG really is going to be for us, when this can happen in less than a month of it's grand opening. I am willing to pay $15 a month to feel that I am accomplishing something, but NOT to feel frustrated all of the time. If I am having trouble accomplishing a goal because of the built in obstacles to it, that is one thing. It is quite another to start on aÂpath to a goal then all of a sudden see obstacles being thrownÂonto that path or to see that path change altogether. I went through these sort ofÂnerfings while playing EQ for 2 years. I had hoped that it would not have been a problem on SWG. Don't get me wrong. I have been waiting for this game a long time and I want to love it. Because of that this thing of suddenly disappearing materials, makes me feel very disappointed. As I said I have encouraged my user group to join so I will not express these frustrations with them. I hope that it is something Sony will either straighten or just stop doing before my group starts to feel the affect of them. So far I am the Artisan and they have gone to other professions.

Weird because every waypoint I have had marked since my first week in the game for high concentraions has stayed right at the same amounts. One of them has about 50 harvesters there (not all mine obviously) and has for a while.

Just gotta plan for it. There seems to be a rhythm to it like you said 6-8 days. Personally, I totally agree with the resource rotation. I am learning a lot from rotating the resources I use about how the weapons will come out. Even very closely rated metals (e.g. only a few rating points difference in conductivity, etc.) have made larger differences in the quality of my end products. I wouldn't want to see one planet getting all the metal gravy. They would turn into mining nightmares.

Just plan on it coming. The higher quality stuff goes first. As soon as you see the first item go, the clock is ticking.

Also, get while the getting is good. I squirrel away every other harvestor load to the bank. That way, I have something to work with while I am finding new resources in the next rotation.

Also, I never pay more than about a days worth of maintenance and power on a harvestor. Just in case. I have to run around a bit more, but better than flushing power and credits. And, after rotation happens, don't just destroy your harvestor. Check to be sure you can't get something else from it. I had a harvestor getting copper for me. The copper ran out two days ago on my planet. I resurveyed everthing it could get and turns out it gets a high quality low grade ore. So, I switched it over to that.

I think I am going to be more selective about my mining site. Try to pick two items of good quality that may overlap. May not alway work, but will same me time, resources and money.

The resource rotation is a great addition to the depth of this game. My complements to the developers!

Permethrinwhen I first noticed this happening, I assumed that therewas rotation happening as well. Oneresource would disappear and a new resource would suddenly be "discovered". ButIgot concerned with I would aresource go from 3-4 various types down to only 1.Ijust read a post where the person said thatAluminum had completely disappeared from the planet that they were on. THAT was my greatest fear, an entire resource disappearing. Many thingsspecifically require aluminum and not just a "metal".We would nowbe required to go offworld to get that resource. That starts sounding way too much like I am at work and not a game thatI am playingon my computer at home. I can see the fun in locating materials that may be on a different planet that might be of a better quality than you can get on your planet, but not because youcan't make Harvesters anymore if you don't find that resource on another planet. That is a bit too much frustration for me.

OK this does make great sense and adds realism (least a basic sort) for resources ta run out. Just the speed they run out doesn't really hold up ta scrutiny unless ya don't open your eyes. We have these advanced (compared to those we know in the current day and age) tools to survey for resources. They tell us there's a strong vein of Steel or Copper here. We harvest it along with many others with relatively small harvestors. It dies in a bit over a week. This very same resource, maybe with another name pops up around the same spot a few days later at a varied concentration. And what's the logic behind all these differently named resources including hides and bones not being usable in the same spots - tell me I can't make a perfectly usable camp or piece of Bone armor using some Beaver, Muskrat, and Duck hides! Might not be pretty, or as durable, but could be done!

Boinky that makes sense to me, providing that it goes that way. So I am hoping that person will report soon that a new kind of aluminum has been discovered, but in new places and at different concentrations. That would be better. At least they don't have to go offworld for Aluminum. Frankly, it is still quite unstablizing especially for a new artisan with little money and a very small Harvest farm to not be able to plan future maintenance and fuel expenditures on a particular Harverster or a group of Harvesters because you don't know how many days or even hours that material will still exist there. That is the part that is extremely unrealistic to me anyway. I honestly, just don't want to feel that I am being manipulated or being steered or directed into specific directions. Even if I am, be less obvious about it.

I have to comment on this..

I found some sweet veins of metal / ore on Corellia, and im running low, so i activated my WP went out there, and ...

the same mineral didnt even register on my survey tool...

Now. I perfectly understand resource decay as they are mined, but. . .

HOW DO ROCKS MOVE FROM PLANET TO PLANET !!!!????!!!

ROCKS DONT MOVE. .. THEYRE ROCKS.

/rant off.. ahem

ok, but serisouly, this really blew any roleplaying for my surveyer at all.

One day, i ran way up north and harvested some wood materail from the forest, Now i aassume next time i want some more of that nice wood it will be gone.

AN ENTIRE FOREST ?!?!?!? GONE ?!?!?

sorry, /rant off.

Bye.

Since playing the game, I am seeing my second rotation of resources on my primary planet. Right now it looks like we are at the end of our second set of minerals on Corellia. Pretty much everything is gone. The first time this happened a whole new set of resources appeared. Try not to be frustrated by it.

The good news is that when the new set of resources came in (last time around) I found a lot of better quality stuff available for weaponsmithing. Being forced to use new resources also taught me alot about the finer points of selecting materials for making weapons. When I was crafting first tier weapons (e.g. CDEF's) it was pretty straight forward. One mineral (conductivity and quality) and one petro (quality). I just made novice weaponsmith and now other minerals and gasses are in play. Conductivity, overall quality, shock resistance, etc, are becoming a factor. I try to keep a bit of different chemicals in my back pack to experiment with and the rotation is paying off in a better product.

When the game started and good resources were identified "mega-farms" sprung up on those sites. Now that we have been through a rotation, I am not seeing as much of that. Overall, I think that is good. If resources were static mega farms with factories would be crowding the landscape and making it difficult for the struggling, more casual player.

With this rotation I found a very high quality petro which I am extracting 24/7 using a harvestor and banking most of it for when it rotates off the planet. When the new rotation comes I am looking forward to checking everything out. I'll bet there'll be something that will improve some aspect of what I make. I just have to find it. My point is, the rotation has made me a smarter player. I can't just put a harvestor up and grind. I have to examine and plan. Again, don't be frustrated by it. I think you will find that it adds to the finer aspects of crafting that were designed into this game.

Your postPermethrin, was very encouraging. I'll keep at it. The problem I am having now is storage space for all the materials that I am collecting in varying amounts. What are the rest of you using for storage?

I have a small house with backpacks in it for storage. Works out very well and keeps things organized. You can only have one backpack equipped, but i have 7in the house on the walls holding various stuff and labelled to keep it nice and tidy. This is where I dump the odds and ends samples I collect and experiment with so they don't clutter up my inventory.
