Thread: where the heck can I find harvester deeds? sort of noob here
Looking to find harvester deeds on Tatooine, in the city of Mos Eisley. I've been playing 3 days now and am somewhat advanced in my engineering (lvl 2) and almost lvl IV surveying. It takes forever to sample stuff by myself and want to automate the process by getting harvester. However, the thing that is bothering me is that someone told me that resources don't stay in one spot, they move around randomly after a certain amount of time. If this is the case, then I'll have to constantly move my harvesters around or what? I don't get it. How can I make good money as an artisan? That's my second question. Thanks ahead of time.
Anyway.. if the resource you have been mining disappears and you don't want to fork out heaps of cash to move it, have a look in the resource list and pick something else in a high concentration. Even if you don't want it, someone else is bound to have a use for it, so put it up on the Bazaar.
Harversters don't make sense unless you're more advanced-they cost a few thousand credits a day just to keep maintained. I'm Eng 3, Dom arts 3 ,surveyorer 4 and still pull it up by hand, but I use a looping macro when I'm away from my computer. You can write one in a text file and then load it with the /load command. You will need to time your player (in seconds) to see how long it takes to survey before you get tired and how long it take you to recover (in seconds).
Your text file will need a name for the macro followed by the commands each starting with / (slash)and ending with; (semi-colin).
by creating a text file you can copy and paste the string many times to create a long macro. MIne is something like this:
Samplingmacro: /sample; /pause 300; /sit; /pause 150; /kneel; /pause 3; (and then I cut and copy that about 100 times within a text file starting with /sample)
To explain: "Samplingmacro" is the name of the macro, "/sample;" starts the sampling, "/pause 300;" tells the macro to pause for 300 seconds before it starts the next command which is "/sit;". There is then another pause of 150 seconds before the next command starts--"/kneel;" and so on.
Once the text file is created, save it to your SWG directory. You can then load the files by entering /load nameoffile.txt in your Spatial box.
If the file loads correctly it will say something like aliases loaded.
finally enter a forward slash with the name of the macro you want to run. With the example I used, it would be /samplingmacro (make sure you have surveyed in the spot you are standing in to ensure there are resources there)
you will see all of the commands from the macro entered on your screen and your guy will start.
If you need to stop the macro you will need to leave SWG and then log back in.
You will need to load the macro file each time you log in to use it.
I know it sounds like a lot, but you can run the macro all night or while you're at work, it doens't cost anything, and you end up with at least 1k in resources...
Good luck!

Love my harvesters,
I have four a wind generator, one going for ore, one for micro-flora, and one for water. I can't macro sample all three items at the same time so it triples my take. In a day on a good spot I can get like 1.5k of resources. Being a medic and not a full time artisan, that's huge for me. Since I have marksman I can solo destroy missions and make enough to keep them going no problem. I haven't sold any resources yet as I'm grinding my way to ochem-IV but once I'm there I imagine the things will be profitable as opposed to money sinks.

I don't agree with that statement at all. I'm not a Master Artisan yet and haven't even reached Novice Weaponsmith and I find harvester VERY useful. My only wish is that I would have known about them sooner as I could have gotten a jump on the power-selling even earlier than I did. Get in on the ground floor my friend and you make money!
A few thousand credits will become measly if you can sell just 1-2 thousand of your units fora nice profit. Even better when you sell 10k units. Cha-Ching.
You're going to have a fairly boring game (or at least have to leave your game on for a while) by using a sampling macro.
