I got a survey mission to get "Inert gas" with 53% efficiency - I surveyed - found a spot with 65% - sampled about 300 units and nothing. So then I went and found a spot with 53% surved another 200 nothing. how many do you need to sample? I tried giving my samples to the guy who gave me the quest - and nothing.

I don't know how to do these missions.

The few survey missions I have taken and completed (around 4-5) I found that you need to be quite a ways away from the NPC you got the mission from.

Once I was far enough away AND successfully found a new survey point that met the NPCs criteria - the system always alerted me I had completed the mission successfully and I rec'd the reward. No sampling involved and never had to return to the NPC.

Yup - the only Survey Mish I ever had was from a Rebel Officer on Naboo. Looked around as I left him a bit, but then gave up on that area, shuttled to a city on the Southern Hemisphere and Bingo! right off the shuttle found the desired resource percentage
