Seeing the problem with flooded items, giving them away to earn UXP and others trying to actually make some credits from their crafting I had this idea and was wodnering if anybody else would like to comment on it or improve it.
What if the price you set on your crafted items also defines how much UXP could be gotten from that item? A low price means few UXP, a higher price means more UXP? It seems to me that this could help get rid of some of the flooded grinded items and support increased prices as well. Most of us still feel the prices are really undercut afterall, right?
I'm really interested in your opinions on this idea...

Seems very open to abuse, to me. Put item on vendor for ridiculously high price, have friend buy it, tip friend his money back...friend uses item for a little while, and presto! I'm a Master Whatever... The more money I or my friends have, the less time it would take. That won't stop grinding, it'll just reward people who're rich or have rich friends.

I think my ideas about a more robust crafting system would address the flooded items issues quite quickly.

I would love to know what you think about it. Though it is a long post, I think we could really open this game up for Artisans with these (or similar) ideas.

I fail to see the abuse in this. True, what you describe is something that would happen. But that is already existing today, except today you get max UXP while just simply give away items.
I didn't mean that a price for 100k in a vendor would equal 100k UXP. I assume the devs have put a max amount of UXP you can get from any crafted. And this should never be exceeded by the price you charge. Let's say it would be calculated by the bazaar max price (3000 credits). If you sell something for 1500 credits you'd only get 50% of the UXP. 1250 credits would only yield 25% of the possible UXP.
This is an idea to try and up the prices for items (or more or less try and damage reduce the giving away of all items for free). It really wouldn't be possible to exploit UXP. UXP is a nice bonus for crafters, trying to make them distribute items to others. This seems to work so well that they distribute their items for free. Since crafters want to gain the UXP this would mean they'd have to put a better price on those items. It isn't a solution, but could be a damage control.
