Thread: How-to for factories and harvesters?

Hey all,

I'm trying to find out how to set up factories and harvesters once you get the deeds. I understand (basically) how the placement of them works, but can anyone describe how the power and maintenance requirements work? i.e. do I need a power generator within a certain distance, or does the generator make power modules that I have to drop into the harvester or factory? And what about the maintenance fees? How are they determined? I've looked all over, and haven't seen a guide that covers this very well. If anyone can tell me (or point me to such a guide), I'd be greatly appreciative.

Bartowa,

Check out this link to my starter guide to mining. Doesn't have anything of factories...sorry.

This is in the guide section.

Hope it helps.

Let me try my hand at this

Harvesters

Survey for the material using your survey tools. Find a nice spot with 60% or higher, the higher the better.

Put your harvester down on it. In some area's you wont be able to place due to the land being a bit slopey or hilly, or when there are POI's near. If theres POI's near, destroy them, and that should clear up the land for you to lay your harvesters.

You will need power and credits for your harvesters. Power comes in the form of wind (basic) solar (intermediate) radioactive (advanced) I believe the maintence is 710 for personals and 1420 for mediums, havent made any heavies for myself yet, so I cant tell you what these cost in credits to maintain.

Once you have power and maintenance in your harvesters, choose the material you want it to harvest, then turn it on. Let it sit and do your thing, its going to be awhile before it gets material worth using, unless of course, you only need 10's and 50's and not 1000's hehe like an architect.

Factories

Factories need both power and maintenance to use. it will also need a schematic of the item it will produce, and the materials to produce the items with.

You can make a schematic by going to the specific crafting stations usually located in most cities. Stand next to one, and create the item you want. It will then ask if you want to create a prototype (the actual item) a schematic, or if you want to experiment. Choose create schematic. Remember which materials you used for the schematic, because the factory will want the exact same ones to make that item. When you have the schematic, run to the factory you have, and place the schematic in the designated area, then put the materials needed to make that item in the ingrediants hopper, and then start your production. I havent timed the creation process as of yet, but it took me a long time to make 100 control units. If your using a factory to get xp, stand near it while it works, do not log out or you will lose out on the xp.

some advice for up and coming crafters.

Go out and do some missions, enough to buy yourself a factory and a few harvesters. Put that factory you just bought to use, and start crafting yourself. In just an hour I got my husbands character to master engineer. Of courst thats with 3 equiptment factories and large amounts of material to make survival knives. Im sure theres better ways, but I didnt want to take the time to use different materials.
