To all Whiners concerned,

I have been reading these boards for the last 2 weeks and frankly, I am simply amazed at the incoherent nonsense that some of you seem to post. The economy is being ruined by Powergamers (Whine), the game isn't fixed(Whine), It wasn't this way when I played the Beta(whine) also should be read as(I am special and I know the rules because I was a beta tester) BIG FREAKIN" WHOOP! HEY! Incoming special bulletin.........IT'S A GAME!!!!!! a STAR WARS GAME!!! and a pretty darn good one at that(IMHO). You people forget that this is an MMORPG and none in this genre is perfect. Hell even EQ when it started wasn't spit and polished.(yes its true...for all those EQ GEEKS out there)

We should play this game how each one of us wants to play it, and let everyone else enjoy what they are doing. Stop your incesant whining and complaining. You all sound like you are 12 yrs old! Act like a Jedi for Yoda's sake.(hehe) If you like to pwerplay so be it, if you are a casual gamer like me...so be it.

Comments like "I cant make money as an artisan because everyone is dumping and selling cheap" boohoo. I can see why you play online games...somehow you thought this would be a fair environment unlike real life where you probably would get eaten up by real life compitition. Online games are a microcosm of what goes on in real life, deal with it one way or another. If you don't like it...hey easy solution DO NOT PLAY! any way you look at it suck it up! Make friends, form alliances ENJOY the game. Besides as an Artisan why specifically do u need creds? You can make almost everything as an artisan, besides try trading for goods who says you need creds for a house, factory, droid etc. Fighter classes are your main target for sales? Sell good quality stuff! Develope customers(just like real life market conditions) Improvise, Overcome and Adapt or Leave.

Comments such as "it costs me this or that much for resources" What are u babling about ????? All it cost is time and if you don't have time to spend in gamesurveying resources and sampling why play the game if you are not there to spend time in this virtual world? I read somewhere in these boards that the attention spans are sad...I'll say! Most of you want instant gratification and no work to attain it. Sad society....Sad, sad, sad

The dev's should do this, the dev's should do that...Hey! newsflash, if its that important to you, write a coherent well informed letter to them and comment on your opinions. Notice! I said opinions because that's what they are, no matter how much Online gaming experience you might have(for all whiners saying 10+yrs RPG experience) Doesn't mean squat!!!!

Lets all enjoy this game and if you are a true fan grow with it, Patience all my young padawan wannabe's.

Go ahead and flame away.....it will just further prove my point and in the end, only the true gamers will be left in this nice glaxy(it will be once all whiners hyperspace out)

I am a casual gamer who played EQ, Asheron's Call, Anarchy (shortly) and DAOC. SWG is a next generation MMORPG. I have an account on Camelot with a level 50. Frankly, I can't go back to that game after playing SWG. It doesn't have near the depth and game infrastructure that SWG has.

Because this is a next generation game, there is now way to avoid it having many issues that have to be redesigned and fixed. Frankly, I am enjoying being part of its development. I just hope they keep it moving forward, rather than nerfing it out of existence. Diablo was "cutting edge" when it came out and needed to evolve to adapt to the unanticipated. EQ was the same. SWG is now pushing the gaming envelope and will have to evolve as well. To expect it to be perfect out of the gate is totally unrealistic. Even with beta testing.

Well said, Johrin.

I'm kind of a n00b when it comes to MMORPG's. This is the first one I've actually subscribed to; all the others that I've played are either demo versions, or beta tests. And I enjoy it immensely.

But this doesn't mean I like everything about it. There's certain aspects that I would prefer to be different, but that's the way it goes. There's no such thing as a perfect game. I mean, even classic titles like MGS, FFVII, and Goldeneye had stuff that would've been better had it been different, but you played them anyway, right? Just suck it up and DEAL with it, will ya?

From what I've seen, this is one of the easiest MMORPG's to ever be made, and people are STILL complaining about difficulty. You don't lose anything from dying (XP, money, or otherwise), and your character can be killed an infinite number of times without disappearing (except for force sensitive). Plus,if you're smart, the hostile mobs won't ever catch up with you to kill you. Also, you don't have to worry about some immature jerk with a hugely built-up character slaughtering your newbie character because he thinks it's funny.

People complain more in the artisan class than any because they feel they've been "nerfed" of a lot of benefits they had before. SOE and LA never promised the artisan class to be easy, did they? It shouldn't be. It should be just as hard as being a brawler, or a marksman, or any other class, since all the classes should require you to log the same amount of time into them to get anywhere. People want automated macro systems to help them extract resources and build stuff, and I don't agree with that. I mean, what's the point of playing if you're setting it up to run itself? That's like turning a TV on and not watching it.

So just GET OVER IT. There's a lot of problems with the game, including a vast array of bugs, server crashes, and connection difficulty, but we all CHOSE to play the game during its infant stages. When dealing with something like this, there's going to be problems, and every timeyou click the "I Accept" button, you realize that there's going to be things that can happen that will drive you crazy and **** you off. If you don't like it, stop playing. Just quit whining all the time; the purpose of these boards is to get information and to ask advice, not to bitch about every little thing you don't agree with.

Well Said RNK!

Glad to see that you also think these boards are for information and advice NOT a wish list of complaints on the game. I Love this game, even with the bugs I know will get worked out. For people who don't want to pay for bugs???? Don't pay...I don't see a wookie with a blaster to your head saying "ooorgh wooagh unnngh" (translation: Play Star Wars Galaxies and pay for the buggy game system as is)

My point is Enjoy the Game and patience,... its new and will never be perfect and never be everything to all players.

I have played other MMORPG and SWG is by far the easiest ..the Simplest and most forgiving. Besides where else can u play alongside Moncal chefs, Wookie tailors and zabrak architecs and build a town and company? The social teamwork aspect of this game is awesome and well thought up.

P.S. Can I have some cheese with that WHINE!!!

Now this is interesting. Others are not happy about various aspects of the game and have expressed their disapproval over them. You are unhappy with those who have expressed their feelings and you have expressed your disapproval over them having the audacity to express theirs. From your post it would seem you feel that you are the only one who has a right to expressdisapproval of anything pertaining to SWG in these forums. Now that is funny.

What is different about a mmorpg than any other games is two things. You must invest a tremendous amount of time if you expect to experience the most that the creators have put into it and second, you continue to pay for the game long after you left the game store clerk. Every gamer knows this. They know that they may be sacrificing wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, jobs and other important things in the real world in order to play this game to the fullest. Gamers have a right to expect an NPC standing there after the gamer has traveled 2,000m to meet them at the end of a mission, or to have a frame rate of more than 1 frame per 15 seconds while traveling through town, or not to have a Harvester stuck forever in the middle of building itself because the gamer got booted after he/she started the installation. There are many issues that must be addressed and SOE is working on them as fast as they can because of the complaints.

I had one lot missing from my allocation of 10 lots. I also lost 2 Harvesters in the Bazaar one day and 2 more the next day. I sent a customer service ticket to SOE and complained about it. Guess what? Last night this nice Mon Calamari came up to me while I was checking out the Mission Terminal in Moenia named JeremyC. He asked me if I still had one lot missing. I was shocked! I told him yes, and also told him about the 4 missing Harvesters. Right on the spot he game me my one lot back and traded over 4 Harvesters! I actually stunned! I told him that I would sing praises to his name from that point on, which I am now doing. LOL. The point is I complained and SOE responded in the form of JeremyC.

So Johrin_Fleth the moral of the story is maybe you should be as patient with the "whiners" as you want them to be with SOE. Things will be fixed because they complain about them. Eventually, they willall be fixed and even improved upon and this will most likely be the best mmorpg for some time to come. Complaining has its place in these forums as much as helpful information about the game. Thats the beauty of PC gaming and even more so mmorpgs. Continually patching these games will eventually produce the game that even the designers had orginally hoped for.

Taking objection to software issues is definitely our right as paying customers, and you're right, it does help identify and resolve them. I think the objection the thread-author might be raising is the obnoxious and excessively threatening tone ("so help me I'll quit this game") which does nothing to either encourage constructive discussion or resolve the issues. It is a bit annoying sometimes. Software has bugs, let's identify them and move on.

None of the bug complaints are nearly as annoying as the gameplay whines, though. Someone named Korcid continues to rant about grinding, dumping and the effect on the economy. He threatens newbies that he will "buy their dumped stuff on the bazaar and destroy it, denying you the UXP!"

Grow up Adam Smith.

Let people spend their $15/mo however they damned well please. In the long run, those who are committed to enjoying this experience and living in this universe are not going to be the ones whining about how "unfair" the point system is because it denies them exclusivity at their Uber-nerd level which they attained in four days. Those people will simply move on to the next MMORPG when it goes Beta, and then whine their way through a powerlevel upon release.

I see what you mean Celera. My concerns are either bugs or things that seem bugged to me.

Truly working Trade professions in a mmorpg thatdid seem like an afterthought (EQ) is a new concept. It may take awhile, but I think that we will finally figure out how to "group" successfully same as the combat guys have.

I agree that working together will ultimately be critical. I don't think the turbo-whiners are really interested in that though. They view everything everyone does in terms of how it affects them personally.

The whole point of companies producing mmorpgs is to immerse the gamer into their virtual world. The more realistic the design of the game and the rules of game are, the more immersive the game will be for the gamer, thereby more enjoyable. Not all the rules or designs of an mmorpg are necessarily realistic just because they produced that game. The whole point beta testing is, tofind out what works and what doesn't, what is realisttic and what isn't. Even after a mmorpg is released design problems and bugs will be discovered. I don't know any game that the gaming community has ever declared a perfect game in every way.

So how do I know if I think that I have uncovered a design flaw or a faulty rule in a game? It is how that design or rule affects my immersion into that game. If I am playing a game and something happens that causes me to say "that doesn't make sense" or "the game is cheating", I have been kicked out of that game's world's goals and the obstacles to those goals. I have been put in a position to criticize that game and the company that produced if for not keeping me in its world for my entertainment. If it happens too many times in a game, I just lose all interest in continuing in the game. I am sure we all do this with our games. I am sure that we all can look at our shelves with dismay at the games that promised to keep us engaged, but failed because of some design flaws or faulty rules.

I have only encountered one thing playing as an Artisan that I consider a serious design flaw and it has kicked me outmy immersion into thegame several times because of it. It isn't a bug so I can't report it on a Customer Service ticket. But if the Developers are ever going to finally realize that it is a design flaw, they are going to need to hear from gamers as why it is a flaw and how it has affected their immersion into the game. How are we to communicate a situation like this if we do not post our concerns in the forums. The Developers are notgoing to know that it is affecting our enjoyment of the game if they do not read about it. We may say some aspect of moving up as an Artisan is boring because it is repetitive, but we still understand why we must do it. When something occurs in the game that makes absolutely no sense we have a right to say "hey, you may not know it but this thing you are doing here is adversely affecting our enjoyment of this game." They produced this game because they wanted to entertain us. They make daily changes because they want to address issues that are adversely affecting our enjoyment of their game. So, I have expressed my concern over a specific issue in other posts in hopes that the powers that be will take notice and possibly realize that it is a legitimate complaint that they should address. If it does get addressed I am sure the majority of Artisans will enjoy their profession even more. So far I have not been called a whiner for expressing my concern over it, but it would not destroy me if I was. Even though it is a design issue and not a bug, we have a right as gamers to bring issues of this kind to the Developers' attention and not just acceptthemjustsimply because they arethere.

I am the president of a gaming league that I created. We have at least 2three months-long competitions a year. For each new season of competition we introduce new features. We have even created a virtual world around our leagues. Some things we introduce work and others don't. I know this because our members let me and my staff know either way. What works we keep and what doesn't we drop. Just because we introduced it intoourcompetitions doesn't mean it is set in stone. We wouldn't know if it would be successful unless we tried and we gauge the success of something new bythe acceptance of it by our members. But there is a way to communicate things that you disagree with so that an organization is willing to hear and consider the issue. It is the same way in my group. It is all in the delivery.

Celera, Darkspace,

Well written...both of you. Darkspace I am glad you understood Celra's to the point response that I am all for customer service IF there is a problem with the game(AKA Bugs) What I am tired of is all these players that whine about..."this game is not fair because of this or because of that" Last time I checked this was SWG not Burger King wher you can "have it your way" All these people complaining about grinding, economy, crafting, running missions for money...whaah, whaaah, whaaah...sheesh. GET A LIFE and look around ITS A GAME!!! AsI constantly remind people. And what is so funny is how many "Economy Experts" there are, man I tell you President Bush would do well to hire these gamers so they can balance the Nation's financial crunch(Tone of sarcasm).

This is a highly social and group based game. More than anyother game out there. Hmmm I wonder why? Could it be that the creators took inspiration from the Star Wars Mythos and movies where not one character was the sole hero but rather it was through the strngths and weaknesses of all the characters combined that the Rebellion triumphed over the Evil Empire? When you think Bah! I don't need a group...think about Luke saying that in the Trash Compactor (squish) a Droid saved his Arse...lol Finally its A GAME! have fun and if this is the most serious aspect in your life consider yourself lucky......People are still dying out in the real world freeing people whoARE oppressed by an Evil Empire...

Dear Mr. President of a gaming League You Created,

Congrats...... it means absolutetly nothing! Big Freaking Whoop! How is you mentioning that even remotely relevant to my original thread of whiners???

Seems like a ploy to self validate yourself or pump yourself up to some kind of virtual importance. You know what Darkspace for someone who says he is not a whiner you sure do go out of your way to validate that you are not.....I think you are a closet whiner. In the future if you want to pump yourself please do it in the privacy of your own home.

Its a Game enjoy what it is, write the dev's directly ina coherent manner the "design flaws you o mighty one have discovered" Geeze ...get a grip(gaming league I created) give me a break(should read I have no life,no significant other nor a clue of what it is to have a real job)

If it has bugs report them...by all means...But quit whining about: Why cant I be a Jedi?

Why is Artisan so hard, powergamers are ruining the game, selling cheap ruins the economy, BLAH...BLAH...BLAH

Darkspace Get over your self importance thinking that without you the gaming companies would be lost and clueless without your input....

Thanks about the information regarding the Developers forum. Thats a good point and I will take it there. I'm not always sure what a company's rep will and won't read in their forums.

I appologize to you. It really wasn't my intention to upset you.Based on your response to my first post I thought we were going to have a rancor-freediscussion about this issue. I had onlyintended it to be a constructive conversation. It was the only reason why I even decided to continue communicating on this thread. Even though you were upset at the "whiners" it seemed that your heart was in the right place.I say that is because I was first attracted to your post because it reminded me of almost an exactpost I made in a company forum about the "whiners" in there over the latest version of the game my users' group plays with. I felt exactly as you do and defended the game staunchly.

In my defense I did not mention the name of the group or even what we play because it had no significance here nor did I mention what my complaint in the game was because I did not want to hijack this thread with it. I mentioned it only to explain that we on a minute smaller scale compared to SOE had to respond to our members' concerns the same way SOE has and will continue to. I a few months ago, would have regarded the ones that you are upset with, the verysame way. The only reason I am spending my time responding to your post is because your attitude andpassion for the game and your empathy for the people who created it reminded me of me. I still am probably making a mistake because I am trying to do to you what you are trying to do with the ones that you are upset with and that is to change their attitude. I finally learned from dealing with that company's forum members who were upset with the game, that I could not change their attitudes and behavior towards it and the company. They wereupset, disappointed, disillusioned, etc. and were not going to be turned away from it. What changed their attitudes which I witnessed was time. Time mellowed them out as they slowly came to like the game and even tolerate what they still didn't like about it. I also realized that games are a big partin many people's lives. In many it maybe their only form of relaxation and they want to get the most out of it. I just don't discount their feelings like I used to.

Iwrote something a few days ago in that forum telling the members there thatI finally understood why they had been upset and communicated the way that they did and I appologized for coming down so hard on them. After many months after the game had been released, they were still there. They immediately responded positively to the post and it sparked a discussion of issues still to be settled in the game, but this time it was without rancor of any kind from any of them.

Johrin_Fleth I think the same thing is going to happen here. Many issues will be worked out to gamers satisfaction and other issues will just be accepted or at least tolerated. Complaints will drop dramatically and more constructive discussions will take place. I think it definately will because most people who sign up for these games just want to have fun with themselves and with each other in the game. I do hope that you now understand why I had originally responded in your thread.
