Thread: An idea for storage.

I just realized how much easier the game would be for newbies if in the begaining you are able to craft some sort of storage facility. The biggest problem a new player can have is 1 dieing quickly and 2 having too much stuff. If you are an artisan in the begaining your resources take up alot of space so I thought you should be able to craft some sort of hutt that will heal you quicker and allow you to store small amounts of items in it. If anyone thinks this is a good idea tell me. Also state the problems.

Um... have you ever heard of "Droids"?
A decent DE can craft a droid that stores up to 10 item... compleatly portable.

A storage building would be awesome - I wish we had some kind of "warehouse" that let us get 250 items of storage, using only 1 lot. It wouldn't be anyplace that you could live in, it would just be like abig backpack, where you could store items.
As for the new player, something similar to this could be issued at character creation - but theirs would hold 75 items. That would prevent people from creating characters and deleting them just to get a ton of warehouses for free. The 250 item ones would be crafted by Architects.
I think there should also be an increase in lots for every player. Given that we just got multipassenger ships that take up 1 lot each, and the veteran "reward" actually steals 1 lot from you (the yacht) then we should get at LEAST 1 lot additional, if not 2 or even 5.
Something needs to be done about storage, it's out of control. I have way too much stuff.

WHAT!!?!?! ships take lots!!!! Yet another reason to not buy JTL.
I fully agree more lots, more spaces in buildings.

Factories can functon as storage buildings. 100 items in the input hopper.
Yes, the Multiplayer ships take lots. This is because they can hold items. They take 1 lot, and have room for 75 items.
Heck, even the bank can be used to store up to 100 items.

All I'am saying is that I think there should be a house in the begaining for items. If your an artisan when you start out it takes a hole lot of space. And I thinksampaling resources should be easier for newbs.

That's where a droid is nice. 10 items means you could carry all your harvesters, assuming you have only lots for 1 character.
Large houses are poor for general use. 250 items for 6 lots. Where a Small or Medium house holds 150 items for 2 lots.
A person can carry at max:
60 Items + equipped items in the first level of the backpack.
50 items in an equipped backpack
Up to 50 more items in droid storage.
160 items is a heck of a lot to be carrying.

Yeah but how convienet(sp?) is running to SP get in your ship/run to the bank/run out to a harv.
It would be nice to have a large house be able to hold a nice business/work shop and be decorated.
Right now I have my workshop and resources and 1 decorated room in a large generic.
I have 7 empty rooms (if you count the circular ones).
