Ok i'm feed up with this. i've had this problem before on my old Doc Alt (dont use her anymore) but i've started getting it again, now i've changed me character on Chimeara. I've just got Artisan 4444 (working on the AP for master) and how purchased a load of extractors/installations to get the resources needed to start shipwright.

Spent about 2hours last night and 1hr before work this morning hunting around for a good % of Radioactive, for powering my other extractors. I head out of Cnet heading south. i see the message "you have left Coronet" so i start surveying. And WOW straight away i come up with a supply of Otirk Class 2 Radioactive.I try to place the ION Generator down. only to receive "You can not complete this action in current state", so i pause not moving for a few seconds and try again "Building not permitted here". I move around some, always heading away from Cnet. and get teh same message over and over again.

I move to a different planet and try again to get the same fecking message (and i'm in the middle of nowhere, no buildings, no liars, no targets, no nothing) "Building not permitted here".

So i try again this morning. i found 2 very good supplies of Otirk again. but there are either in the mountains or on the boarder of a smallvillage (4 building and a factory, with no guild or town hall) again in both cases i get "Building not permitted here".

Now on earth am i meant to get the resources to do a crafting profession if the bloodly game wont let me place them anywhere?????? I'm sick and tired of it. i love playing this game but i would LIKE to be able to play it when i log-on. Does anyone else have this problem? if so how can i get around it. other than spending 10 hours of hunting round for a new supply.

You are probably still to close to a city. The no build zones around most of the original cities (not player ones) are anywhere from 800-1000m outside of the point where you actually leave the city.

Please drop any auction winnings at my vendor on Corellia. It is Abilof Weapons at -1803 2347 just east of the Kor Vella starport or the Fort Qui shuttleport.

i'm normally about 1000m away from a city. but ok yes in some cases that might still be true, but what about when i'm in the middle of nowhere with nothing in view in any direction?

The 1000m rule is whats giving you the first problem. But that was answered. If your on a planet like Dath or Endor there are no-build zones outside the starports and all over the place. I actually keep a list of build zones on dath instead of doing it the other way around.

If your on a normal planet getting that error like the starter planets or talus/Rori well give it a try this morning and see if it was just a temporary thing.

If you're 1000+ meters out from the edge of the NPC city bounds and are still getting this message I would check to see if you are close to a point of interest; many POIs will have no build areas around them similar to NPC cities. If neither of these is the case I would suggest you submit a CSR ticket.

I can almost guarantee that the first response you receive will be some automated response that explains the process of how to place a building to you as though you were a small child. It sometimes takes time and persistance, but eventually you should be able to get some help with this problem.

Good luck!

If you're in the middle of nowhere and getting that message, look around and make sure there aren't any lairs around.

A creaturelair will generate an area around it that is a "no-build" zone. If you kill the creatures/lair, you'll be able to drop your harvesters.

If you're getting a mysterious "building is not permitted here" message, keep gradually moving along, stopping, and trying to drop the harvester. You may not *really* want to drop it, but the overhead view will show you what's preventing you from building.

My guess is there was a lair near you when you were in the middle of nowhere.

What I generally do is either "/find city" or (if that comes back with a player city) "/find starport" (although that doesn't help when you're by someplace like Anchorhead without a starport) and keep that waypoint up to track my distance.

IIRC, lairs don't cause "not allowed to build here" messages immediately, but do put up that yellow overlay when you're actually trying to place the harvester. Kill the lair, and you should then be able to put down a structure.

Go to SW Lok. It is fairly flat and I never have problems dropping 30+ harvesters.

I have a similar problem on Tat just SW of Bestine. I found a nice spot for harvestin in a huge flat area 2-2.5km away from Bestine. Try to setup harvester, "Building is not permitted here". I had to move closer to Bestine to be able to put my harvesters down. Close to other harvesters/buildings (presumably they had the same problem).

This was on Valcyn.

There's a bunch, but there is also the ummm... yes, the lars homestead POI... i know that one has pissed me off a LOT.

I agree with the person that said move a few meters away and try again. Quite often i'll get that "no build zone" move 50M, and suddenly i can build.

Having your CTRL-M hud map up, zoomed out all the way, can give you a basic idea of the no build zones... if you can see a POI there, your in a no build zone 99% of the time.
