A long time ago I mastered artisan and architect. I did it using personal harvesters and grinding out all my components by hand, or buying them already in factory crates. I only touched on using schematics in conjunction with factories. So, my newbish question is this:
Once I make a schematic using the bast quality resources I have, paired with experimentation, how strictly am I made to adhere to what goes into the hopper? If I change one of my ingredients on a subsequent run, will and how badly will it affect my final product? Also, how do YOU keep track of exactly which resources you are using for a particular schematic?
I ask this because I am likely to be pulled back into a crafting profession one of these days, and this time I will be able to afford my own factories. I assume you would use a notebook to jot down all your notes, and maybe put the relevant resources into a container along with the schematic. Maybe use a pack so you can change the name to reflect that Schematic: Stim-B.
I never took those professions as far as they could go, mainly for lack of knowledge and funds. I have learned a few things along the way from master crafters i was guilded with when I was strictly a combat template. Now, when I feel the urge building (no pun intended, and for the record, I hated tradeskilling in EQ so I am amazed I kind of like it in SWG) I know I want to not only succeed but be known for having the best products that can be made, no matter what I decide to market.

hope i understood you right....
When you make an schematic it will say what resources that are needed for that schematic. if you put in an different resource, the factory wont produce anything. it need to be as in the schematic..
and it is the same for making parts that have otheritems in it to....
like when making stims b-c etc. i did this my first time. i make an whole scematic set on stims-b. then i ran to the factory. produced all the devices that stims need.
then i put it all in hopper and put the schematic for stim in. and guess what.... factory stoped producing(slot owner on factory will get e-mail on when factorys stops.finished etc, so be carefull not lending spots on this) and i found out why. when i made the chematic for stim. i hand made all the items for it. and the objekt number didnt match the items my factory had made. doh
so i had to run back to an crafting station with the basic items factory made then make an new schematic. and ding. it worked
hope this helps.. from the noob artisan Alu

Alu is correct.
The resources used to make the schematic (which stays in your datapad btw) will be the same exact resources needed to run it in a factory. Components included. If you check your schematic in your datapad, it will list what resources are needed for that specific schematic, including serial numbers for components.
If you are making a schematic that uses components, you want to make sure you have all the components you need before you make the schematic for the final product. Components used in a schematic all need to have the same serial #, whether they be looted or crafted. So you need to make those first.

Thanks for the help, my previous crafting character was bugged badly, and none of that info ever showed on the datapad.

Say you want to make a factory run of Micro-Sensor Suites. That needs steel, metal, low-grade ore, inert gas, electronics GP module, control unit, and energy distributor. So you need a pile of each specific kind of resource. If you use Aotakkic steel when you make the schematic, that's what you have to put in the factory. If you use an electronics GP module with a serial number of 1b1b1g1q when you make the schematic, then you need to have a crate or two of those exact same GP module with the same serial numberto put in the factory. What I usually do is make a factory run of GP modules, make a factory run of control units, use some of those when making the schematic, then use the rest in the factory.

BTW to make your life easier name your component parts different when your making the schematic.
So a crate of Power Conditions becomes either "Power Conditions(1bc)" putting the first three numbers of the serial number at the end of the part name. That way when you have multiple crates lying around you will be able to know which ones you need to do the factory run.

When I buy artisan componentsto makeweaponsmith itemsI prefer to have the whole serial number in the name of the component. This makes it way easier to grab the components I need when I want to make a run of lances or something.

Will keep that in mind, as I plan on focusing on factory crates of parts needed by the other elite crafting professions, but which require master artisan to make. I want to be the SWG equivalent to Radio Shack. Adding the complete serial is no big issue, especially once my customer base builds and I can make bulk orders for them.
